Justin Bates was some fifteen feet away from the shooter when the wanna be opened fire. Incredibly , he was grazed by five to seven bullets, without any of them penetrating his body or causing serious harm. Evidently, God is not a nationalist.

It's not whether someone is a "white nationalist" or a "black socialist" or a "green sugar addict" or a "brown peacenik" or whatever.

It is whether a person who is a criminal or has potentially criminally mental issues can have access to a gun. And unfortunately, the gun culture and the gun availability (legal or otherwise) in America is so profound and so widespread that I don't see any logical way to prevent the continued massacre of innocent people, unless we are willing to subject ourselves to an almost-unconstitutional invasion of our rights and our privacy.

Bill Ryan, you should offer some concrete and workable solutions to this truly horrible problem, rather than trying to make it a political rant.

Does your right to bear arms trump my right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness? You want a discussion, start with that. Why should a nation of 350 million live in fear because two percent of them want to own a gun designed for military use?

So tell us how do we totally eliminate assault weapon ownership by the two percent? I am totally in favor of tightening gun control, outlawing assault weapon ownership by civilians, and otherwise restricting any and all weapons that could be used not just for mass shootings but rather for shootings period. The point of my comment above is that I believe the tired old saying "if you outlaw guns then only outlaws will have guns" is indeed true. That's because, as I wrote in my original comment, guns are so widely available in America that anyone who is determined to get one to commit a crime can do so, very easily.
