98.6295% "9/7" Triple Double Bonus

Post by Jstark »

While watching a video on YouTube, I came across this pay table for TDB.

The straight flush gets bumped from 250 to 500 credits but the four 5's-K's gets bumped down from 250 to 200 dropping the return by almost one percent. This is on a $5 denomination game so I'm assuming this was done to avoid taxables. Curious if anyone has seen it on lower denominations.

Isn't the more normal dodge to lower the quad payout to 239 ($1195)? This makes the game return 99.22%, I believe.

An add-on thought: if they wanted to reduce the quad payout to less than $1200 by making it 239x5 instead of 250, they could pretty well maintain the 99.58% game return by increasing the straight flush to 400. Of course, they don't really care about that.

Let this also be a lesson. Never rely on the old stand by of just looking at the full house/flush pays. You need to look at the whole pay table. I learned that when I found the 500/9/6 (2500/45/30 for 5 credits) JoB years ago.

But in a 3 line game, dealt trips will cause a handpay on 3 play if one quad is converted which is what the game is trying to avoid.

Hence the 200 credit payout for 5-Ks. Cosmo also offers 10/6 DDB in the same format, which is 99.02%.

I've met that guy in the video back in Sept. 2018, btw. I also noticed the paytable change as well. It's still superior to traditional 9/6 TDB though, so better he played that. He's a big TDB fan. Very nice guy, but a lot more into gambling than I ever will be.

Right. I was obviously thinking only of single line when I made my comment - which is really strange, since my personal preference is multiline, and the the picture was triple line.

Thank you JStark for bringing this game to our attention.

I like to be fluent in the games and this is one I had not seen yet.

You're welcome Bob.

Again to reiterate what I said above. We need to check the whole pay table and not just certain parts of it.

A while ago I was perusing paytables at the local with Vman96, and we came across a $1, $2, $5 machine with 8/5 Bonus. It is on a small bank of machines with more liberal slot club benefits, compared to the other "better"machines. I was about to sit down and bang away when he said something like "whoa, all quads pay 150". Point taken.

A month or so later I had a hankering for some $2 bonus, checked the paytables, 8/5. Forgetting all about the 150 quads, when I got aces and got $300 instead of $800 I was pissed (and feeling foolish) for not checking the whole paytable.l
