Video Pokeritis??
Ok, so this isn't so much of a story, as it is a question.
I've been experiencing sharp pains and cramps in my right wrist and hand (playing hand) the last couple of weeks. I know it's from those dreaded uprights I've been playing lately, but they offer the best paybacks. Just this past Sunday I put in 11 hours only to break even .
Anyway, don't laugh, but I've thought about trying to use one of those wrist thingys that bowlers use. Maybe just to sturdy it up a bit, I don't know. Anybody ever use anything like this while playing or have any suggestions to add? I work construction also, so it already gets plenty of abuse.

The games can be played with the keyboard as well as a mouse. Easier on the hand/wrist, but harder on the fingers (my opinion). I have hand/wrist problems myself, and what's helped me is investing in a trackball. Big, big, help.
EDITED: Oops. I didn't read your post carefully enough, and thought you were referring to the games HERE, and not the real McCoy. But I'll leave my reply in anyway.

Welcome to the club! I just went to the Dr a few weeks ago. At night when sleeping I would wake up with numb, stiff, cold, curved fingers as if rigor mortis were setting in. I would rub and shake my hands and fall back asleep. Three times in one week frightened me lest it was a circulation crisis or some clot situation. "Do you use a computer very much?" the smart Dr. asked. "Only when I am awake!" Besides running a small business on the computer and video poker, I drive a lot and bike when the snow melts. Further, I am doing a combination of swimming and water aerobics from 7-8:00 AM six days a week. For the latter, I grip white styrofoam barbells for great cardio and resistance on the exercise routines. She said it's carpel tunnel, as she pinched the ends of my fingers demonstrating it's not like a circulation problem. The color bounces right back. I could take Motrin for reducing the inflamation and could wear wrist braces but have not resorted to either. I did easily cut back on computer business time and quit using the barbells for aerobics and the problem disappeared. (Disclaimer! So, this is my problem and I have NO idea what yours is.)

Thanks for the input. I know what my problem is.......too much video poker!! Between playing in the casino and practice/stategy play, I'm probably just over doing it. It really starts to hurt after about 3 hours into a trip, but I didn't drive an hour to only play for 3! I think it has to do with the way I rest it over that MAX BET button. I think I'm gonna try one of those braces. It couldn't hurt. Maybe I'll get some sympathy payouts!!

Already mentioned was the Motrin. My doctor had me taking an Alieve at night before retiring. He also had me lower the keyboard on my computer and between the two, the pains slowly went away. I know lowering the keyboard isn't going to help you in the casino, but if you are at a computer for much of each day, it WILL help! And, "yes" I've worn the wrist bands. They help a little, but not all that much. It's worth a try though and your situation may benefit more from it than mine. I didn't get one of the "bowlers braces" but rather just a band that could be adjusted by its velcro strip to as tight as I was comfortable with. I've used it playing golf also. It helped more with the golf than Video Poker.

Thanks Mike. The things we put our bodies through to have a little fun, huh? I hate to admit it, but I just turned 33 a week ago and maybe this is my body trying to tell me, " Hey dumba$$.......you're not 21 anymore!"

When you get to be my age, those pains serve to let you know you're still alive

I call this condition "Poker Shoulder"-extreme achiness in the right shoulder that occurs after an extended casino trip. My chiropractor wants to get it a medical number for treatment for Health insurance! Does anyone think she has a chance?? LOL

Let get a class action lawsuit against the casinos for letting us use their machines knowing that they cause wrist problems. Anybody know of a good lawyer?
This could be worth billions.
My wrist do ache alot now that you mention it.
