Re: The Challenge
Yes, for me its the total experience. I love the noise, the energy, the smell, and the anticipation that something exciting may happen. I also think that the it gives you something to look forward to. There is no question that right now, we are all in lockdown, and life has become an open ended, uncertain, and boring time. This morning, I received an email from a board that I am on, that we lost a long standing member to Covid. Today is my 55th birthday. That email reminded me that I am blessed to be here, healthy, and alive to see this day. Stay strong everyone, this will pass, and may we be lucky to enjoy future days at the casino and in the rest of our lives.

FP,stephmo, your posts nail it very well. In words better than i could put down.
Ditto,s all the way. Except maybe the smell part? On second thought, bring on the smoke and stale beer ASAP.

I enjoy the drive over and back as well. I take the old Florida country roads where there's always something interesting to see along the way... cows, trees, lakes, churches, an occasional old car sitting behind a trailer house. These things remind me of Florida when I was a kid. Lots of Trump signs too. Did I mention the Trump signs?
Seriously, the noise of the casino is not like anywhere else. So many people having fun without caring about what's on the news. The smell of tobacco smoke I could do without. I much prefer to sit next to a vaper.

Some Vegas casinos have a distinct smell that you can close your eyes and know where you are. Coconut- Mirage or Mandalay Bay?

Great to skip the busts and self recrimination. I think that I will make it a monthly excursion.

Sorry to hear of the Covid death. I have a good friend in California who is on a ventilator fighting for his live due to Covid. One thing, the reference to smell reminds me of the 2nd hand smoke in casinos that likely was responsible for my wife's death. I do like the rest of your post. If only casinos would ban smoking or have self-contained rooms for smokers like Red Rock has for smokers playing bingo. If they want to kill themselves, that's their right. But not to endanger others. Tech, no 2nd thoughts please.stephmo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 5:19 amYes, for me its the total experience. Yep. I even walked at the beach in the cold rain today. Just to get out. OTB so sorry. I didn’t know she had passed. Somehow I thought your recent references were from a long time ago. Hope everyone’s family and friends that have the virus recover. My sister’s best friend’s partner way up in Cape Cod has it now. Quaraentined at home. She is in California on pins and needles.

Thanks Olds. It was last month. Second time I lost a wife to cancer. References were not to the first time. No VP at the time. Same here regarding prayers for those afflicted with the Corona Virus.olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 6:35 pmYep. I even walked at the beach in the cold rain today. Just to get out. Prayers your way OTA and everyone. I recently lost my college roommate to brain cancer. He had just turned 70. Just before I retired 16 years ago, I lost another best friend at age 46 to brain cancer, and when I was only 7 lost my grandfather on my dads side to brain cancer. He was 54. No words can express what needs to be said, so I will just continue prayers to everyone. I’m ok now, but have had 5 bouts of skin cancer. Entirely my fault. Spent my youth in the sun trying to maintain that nice bronze color. Never cared for hats especially in the hot sun.
