No one wants to ostracize anyone, at least I don't, but according to the CDC, smokers in the US have a lifespan about 10 years less than non-smokers. My issue is second hand smoke. I could care less if someone wants to smoke as long as they keep the exhaust from their lungs to themselves. I don't believe smoking should be allowed in confined public places such as casinos. That includes tobacco, marijuana, etc. You are not allowed to intentionally spit or cough in someone's face, pee on their shoes, defecate on a public sidewalk or drive drunk. The same should be applied to emitting smoke where it can enter someone else's lungs.notes1 wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 12:24 pmi did NOT say smoking was good for anyone. i just pointed out info that seemed interesting. is it not possible that smokers have developed something that protects them from the virus?
no doubt that smoking is bad for folks, but it is not the root of all evil. and, smokers need not be ostracized, as long as they do there habit where it is allowed only.

A few days ago, I completed a survey I had received from Seneca Niagara. One of the questions asked how much more (or less) likely I would consider returning to the casino if smoking was totally prohibited on the casino floor.

Interesting to see how that goes OMT.
I have had 3 similar surveys here in MI.
Not one mention of smoking.

doubt blame the smokers, blame the casinos. the casinos make the decision, not the player. i don't like sitting next to some fat person, who takes up too much space. i don't like smelling some over boozed person. some folks bring an entire buffet to the machine they are playing. some folks just stink, some are loud, some are dirty, what do i do, move somewhere else.OTABILL wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 1:24 pmNo one wants to ostracize anyone, at least I don't, but according to the CDC, smokers in the US have a lifespan about 10 years less than non-smokers. i have brought this up before. the tampa casino has a large non smoking section, where i often play. but, the place is largely empty. and yet, i will see players complaining that someone is smoking in the SMOKING section. go to the damn non smoking section.

All I know is if one smoker walks into the non smoking area at Mohegan Sun I can smell it even it 100 feet away and I get an instant headache. I guess I have inhaled thousands of second hand cartons over the years between jai alai, dogs, casinos, and even bars. For that matter, my workpkace allowed smoking through the mid 1980s and we weren’t that far apart. Three of my fellow employees were chain smokers, ash trays piled high ashes and butts. We were all about the same age at that time in our 30s. They are all dead now 2 from cancer and one from heart. Only one made age 70 and he died at age 70.
The reason I am bringing this up is not only am I concerned about the smoke, but the latest I heard today is that some droplets can linger in the air for 14 minutes depending on the ventilation system. For those who don’t know already, there are 10 million viruses of all types in a single drop of seawater. My guess is the casinos are going to allow smoking. I think they would have said it already if smoking was to be banned. I also think masks will be encouraged, but not required. Too many people can’t breathe properly through them. I hate the damm things myself, but have been wearing one if I go to a store for groceries.

My biggest gripe with casinos and smoking is the non smoking areas aren’t walled off and most of the machines I play are available in smoking areas. That goes for full pay pickem at Mohdgan Sun and many of the 99 machines are only at smoking bars

half of the full pay pickem machines were always in sky casino, and half in the earth casino . but both allowed smoking ! you would think put half non smoking and half smoking ! I played at least 4 years while the best video poker money maker on earyh was going on . so if 2nd hand smoke caused lung cancer I would have it. maybe I do but i don't go to doctors or hospitals or check ups of any kind , unless i am bleeding to death , I have no clue if i have any illness !
