This clowns name is Steve Young, a local agitator who plays both sides of the fence to his advantage. I've heard conflicting stories one says absolutely nothing will happen because of his connection to the mayor, other says anything is possible in today's climate. I'll be sitting this one out.

We are going for the weekend as planned. Sick of being cooped up. Sick of them winning by keeping us imprisoned on our own property. After this trip we are thinking of taking a longer road trip somewhere. Time and freedom are the most valuable assets. Normally most of our time/freedom is consumed and controlled by work. Being out of work and locked down for the past few months has been a torturous waste of time and an assault on our freedom. We have no idea when and if we will be returning to work. Unemployment will be running out soon. Our future is uncertain and we just want to live a little while we still can. I stay in NY because I don't want to leave my family. I have been trying to convince them to move for years. I love my family more than I hate NY though. If losing them is my ticket out I hope I'm far back in the line for that ticket to be punched. It's a tough spot.

Actually, I will be on my way in a couple minutes to meet my parents for dinner to celebrate my father's 77th birthday. These are things that keep me here.

paco, locked down and out of work for months, you have a lot on your plate to handle. but, your heart is in the right place. tough to have the conflict of what your heart says and what your brain might be saying.

wife and i were both born in WNY, went to high school together. still have many friends there that we visit. but, we moved southward (two moves) starting nearly 33 years ago and i will never regret it. just the fact of warmer, sunnier weather is something that never grows old. and, many places have far better economies than some northern locations. after we left for chapel hill, nc, sure enough, my wife's mother, brother and one sister followed us down, all from up north. we stayed in NC until her mother died at age 94, a couple of years ago. then on to florida.

so, we have made the jaunt from northeast to the southeast. each area has it's pros and cons. lesson we learned was that everyone(including family) are going to do what is best for them. and, in the end, you need to do what is best for you and your wife. not always easy, sometimes scary, but, if one makes the wrong decision, no one said you can't go back.

good luck.

Paco, been there done that. My parents understood and were fully supportive, and now my kids understood/understand regarding moving away. Had the reverse happened where they would have moved, I would have also understood and been supportive. With modern communications and travel you are not cut off (even with the current pandemic) as my grandparents were from their families when they moved to the US 100+ years ago. In the end, you need to do what's best for you and your wife.
