If you have been following the number of deaths in Florida, Texas , Arizona and California, a democrat state by the way, you will see there is no way these states will approach the death rates from NY, Nj etc. Why? A combination of factors, younger people getting the virus, more testing, better medical care etc. Positive tests have been spiking for weeks and months in these locations, but the death rate is nowhere near NY.

Arizona this week had record new cases, record new hospitalzations and record deaths. This trend is only getting worse. I pray no other state goes through what NY did, but I don't see anything being done to stop these trends. The Governor says masks are up to the local authorities. The Mayor of Bisbee says masks are mandatory, but then the Sheriff says he won't enforce any local bans, only a order from the Governor.
I'd guess that about 85% of Bisbee residents wear masks in public but among tourists, it's less than 25%.

I have no problem wearing a mask wherever I need to. Restaurants here at the Jersey Shore have seen almost 100% compliance. If wearing masks helps us reopen sooner, let's do it. Anyone see the street party in Astoria Queens over the weekend? Google it Cuomo is upset.

I'm sure if one looks, you can find similar photos out of every state and city.
Not defending anyone, but the current thought is some areas of Queens- Jackson Heights and Corona, may have been hit so hard that people may now have rached herd immunity. Recent tests are showing positivity of over 70%. I'm not a big believer in herd immunity but some leading scientists say this is a better option than waiting for a vaccine.

Arizona is showing green on some maps, but brown on others. Based on counting tweets, Arizona is the most anti-mask state, which certainly jibes with my personal experiances.

Figured I would mention the Astoria Queens incident since we are both from there. I didn’t see you at the party though

I was supposed to go back to NY in April to testify in a civil suit that is going to be ten years old this year, but it got postponed again. Played with the idea of going home for the rest of the summer but don't want to quarentine for two weeks, and driving cross country with my dog isn't appealing.
This is my first monsoon season and the sunsets and lightning storms are incredible. We got to see the comet the other night, but it was fairly obscured.

There are at least 100 houses for sale around here in the $50,000 range. Lots of retired military and there is even a chapter of The Sons of the Buffalo Soldiers, or some such name. The last Buuffalo troops were stationed nearby from the late 1890s until WW2. Many retired out here and their families still remain.

Depends where in AZ. My experience shopping and buying carryout is that there is almost universal wearing of masks in stores. While Sam's Club just required masks today, when I went last week everyone from shoppers to staff were wearing masks except one lone holdout. Same in the supermarket except for one couple. Both places were busy. Same experience in Costco where masks have been required, one kid not wearing one.
