Not bad but I had a few losing trips too. I’m at best even since June 1. No complaints.

I've enjoyed the conversation gang! First, Olds sorry to hear you might have lost power with the storm I'm assuming. We've spent 6 days and 14 days respectively waiting on power from hurricanes in the past 20 years. My portable generator has really paid off since the last one.
To jump in, here are some changes we've seen at GNLake Charles:
Amenities:
The main restaurant offerings: Salt Grass Steak House, Landrys, Lillies Chinese, Vic and Anthony's are generally open everyday. Others have reduced hours and three (Italian Grotto, Chart House) are closed. The general gift shop is open 24/7 and is the only place to grab a package sandwich/chips/drinks after midnight to eat. Several of the high end shops are closed.
The pool is a social distance nightmare. The swim up bar, the pool area bar, the pool loungers (in water and out), the pool side and in pool beds are packed with young and old alike. The cabanas are often packed. The lazy river is usually packed with tubers.
And, the river beach is often 100 yards of bodies, boats, jet skis, and party goers. This includes the Bill's Bar and Hamburger joint (on the beach) which caters to the river boat traffic, beach crowd and the board walkers. Amazing how many boats pull up on shore and spend the day. We've counted almost 40 during a good, hot weekend day from our balcony the one weekend trip we had to make for gifts.
The worst is the young "specials" from Texas who come to socialize around the tables on the casino floor. It is a social distancing nightmare and as they said in Top Gun "A target rich environment" for pickup especially COVID.

I hear you LL. Same mentality here. The beach which is down at the end of my street is Covan City almost blanket to blanket. Corona/moron combined. Beach chairs jumbled together. However, just 50 yards down the beach, it is nearly empty. The Covons are too lazy to walk a bit and their waistlines show it. What is the saying about taking a horse to water?......wonder if the young set knows that one. However, seems like the 40 something and 50 something crowd are acting the same way. PS same casino story with pool and gatherers.

Last night’s and this morning’s play, was nearly hitless and an expensive lesson. Biggest hand was 25 for one no matter what game I played and I tried JOB, DW, Bonus DW, and Joker Kings. All with excellent paytables too. That’s just the world of vp. At least they gave me a top floor upscale room, paid for food and drink, and all of the employees were polite and pleasant. They even brought me a micro for the room, and a 12 pack of Fiji water which I love and is not available on the floor. Tiny 15 buck free play, but that has been the norm since the middle of June. A very nice lady who sat down to play DDB 2 machines over, hit aces with a 2 on her first hand. Two machines to my right, another real nice older gent hit a Royal on a 50 cent game, and while waiting just ten minutes to get paid, he hit four 3’s with a 2. I was glad for both of them.

olds,
Boy, do I know that feeling. Like you we love the upper floors. Generally quieter. We are also fairly lucky enough to get the nice corner suites. Our preferred tower has balconies on every room so we open the doors and bring in fresh air several times a day. This pic is from the 21st balcony just below the presidential suites just a few minutes after the pools opened up.

Super. Some of the upper corner rooms at Mohegan and Foxwoods and suites have glass all the way around. The extra tv is a plus since even at 3am if the Mrs packs it in, I may still be in overdrive and watch a late night movie in the living room of the suite. Must say, most of the sunrises I catch are before I hit the pillow! Great pic you sent. Gives one a feel for what some of the rest of the country is like.

We never stayed at a local casino and definitely not now. Seven are an hour or less from the house.

There are many reasons we and especially I stay over at local casinos. I guess it started around 20 years ago. Both of my elderly parents had health issues. When something came up, at least I could drop everything and be home in an hour. There was nobody else but me to help out with them. Second, my sessions tend to be marathons. Nothing worse than being too tired to drive home, and not have a room to catch up on sleep. Third, if something else came up, if I had too, I could run home, deal with say a leaky pipe or faucet, and run back up to the casino. Seems like I woud always get those semi emergency calls when I was away. Fourth, before the Mrs retired, she would put in a 100 hour week as a first grade teacher counting doing lesson plans or preps into the night. The short hop casino trips gave her a break from cooking and other things and she could still work on school stuff in the car or even up at the casino in the room. Last, but not least, I just enjoy both the driving and the casino experiences. At least most of them.
