Generally, when a presidential candidate is headed for defeat there is some measure of frustration and desperation among his ardent supporters. When that candidate is headed for a landslide loss largely because of his own lies, despicable actions, prejudices, incompetence, and corruption there is a much larger measure of frustration and desperation. after businesses spent many hundreds of millions, including casinos, to put in temp checks for patrons/employees entering their business, now, fauci says they are unreliable. didn't he also say masks weren't needed at one time?

I think the science has always been pretty clear on temperature checks.

They can only detect someone who is symptomatic, and only people with a fever as one of their symptoms.

Because of that, temperature checks can be useful in detecting some people who may have the virus, as a means for further testing and reducing the number of infected people who enter an establishment. If someone has a fever right now, it is wise to deny entry and recommend testing because it is a very common symptom.

Everyone has always known (from the beginning) that a temperature check is not the same as a test for coronavirus. You shouldn't count on them as your only means of prevention, they are one tool at your disposal. Not to mention, even if the person actually has the flu and not coronavirus, you are still probably doing your customers a favor in the current environment.
