Let's hope Park MGM and NoMad Las Vegas do well and encourage others to follow. https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/t ... d=msedgdhp

I think it's an idea whose time has come, and I hope it succeeds.

Succeed and multiply. One casino here in MI. started the reopen with no smoking, after 6 weeks they opened half the casino to smoking. Did not work, no ventilation and they returned to non.

All Illinois casinos went smoke free 12 years ago and oddly enough, none of them have had to close their doors.

If all Vegas casinos went smokefree at the same time, it wouldn't be as risky as what the Park is doing.

In the late 90s, a friend who owned multiple bars decided to make one of them smoke free. It worked to a point as business didn't go down. However, the abuse and actual violence that happened whenever people unfamiliar with the policy wandered in caused the employees to ask him to discontinue the policy.
A few years later, all of NYC bars had to go smokefree. Within a few weeks, a security guy was stabbed to death over it and police responding to a call about a man smoking in a bar ended up shooting him after he pulled a knife on them. It was a bit of a rough transition but now most bars are smoke and trouble free.

A lot of players are praying for a continuation of non- smoking here in MI.
Also casino workers. Everyone i have talked to is in favor.
I put in a comment card every time i go and also talk to top level people that i know.
Ultimately the customer will decide this but we may have to vote with our feet.

I just found out that two of my favorite casinos in the Palm Springs area, the Spa and Agua Client casinos are smoke free.....for now. I may have to rethink staying away if this is true. Kudos to them for doing the sensible thing.
It is a respiratory virus, letting people forcibly blow out smoke around anyone else is really dumb. I remember people griping about no smoking in restaurants when it changed. They got over it. If all the casinos did the same thing at the same time, people would adapt. Walk outside like they do at work.

I'm all in favor of a casino going smoke free but how would they handle table games? Either a player loses his spot in the game everytime he wants a smoke or the casino lets him hold his place and now is making less per hour per table. I don't think the casino wants to be losing money.
