the three of a kind if you have a pair however, if you have four to a flush, one should still go for the three of a kind. Why isn't it better to try for the flush, since your odds are better and it pays more to go for the flush? TIA.

The flush draw can only improve to a flush, but a pair can improve to 3oak, full house, 4oak or 5oak.

That's why I find it impossible to do the calculations in my head.

In my experience, the pair is better when the flush pays 2. But when the flush pays 3, you have to go for the flush. Of course if possible, you should run your specific pay scale through an analyzer to be sure.

The most obvious difference is when the flush pays 10 on a five credit bet instead of 15.

I can't recall ever playing even one hand of Deuces Wild. Maybe by mistake and I probably threw two of them away. I always think of the lady who sat down next to me at Ocean casino and got dealt 4 deuces first hand.
