Re: Bizarro World 2023
Ditto memories for me. Crystal all the way big Super-Het. ones that got me into serious DX-ing. Big outdoor antennas of my own creation drove my dad nuts.
Used to try different ways to hook them together for distance reception. pretty much every state east of the Rockies.
Built and repaired radios and TV's for every body I knew all the way until about 1970.
Guilty diversion contributor.

I don't recall ever building a radio. However, one of my first projects after retiring was buying all the necessary components and building a desktop computer. It worked out just fine. I don't think I would try that now!

This thread is for anything in life with possible Bizarro type implications or memories. Diversions are good lest we become lazy older couch potatoes. Notice I didn’t say old. Heeee. Heee. Younger set always welcome to chime in as well. Hint on the radio. A pair of aviator WW2 headphones, a single edge razor blade, piece of graphite from the point of a pencil, a piece of board, a safety pin, an empty toilet paper tube, and some thin copper wire. A couple of tacks and that’s it.

We just got back from our overnight. Nothing good to report playing wise. No Royals or medium type hits. Food and drink were good though.

This begs the question. What were the loss totals? After my April shower of tears, I seek May revenge.

Losses were bad, but not budget busting. No further trips till maybe Sunday evening. I reluctantly may have to try Foxwoods in the near future. Only two small hand pays early in 2023. Nothing since.

I presume the location is less convenient for you, but it sure would liven up the thread.olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 5:12 pmI reluctantly may have to try Foxwoods in the near future.
How long has it been since Foxwoods?

Ha! Definitely better vicarious entertainment value for us. It would literally be going from the wolf den to the foxhole! It’s 20 minutes further east across the Thames. Two small HPs after 1/3 2023 on his coin in does not compute. Go east, Olds man!
