DDB progressive at Eldorado (Reno)
I'll wrap up my recent Reno/Tahoe junket with this story.
We were fooling around trying to find decent machines and after finding the DB+ machines spoken of by pokerforme in other thread I spied 9/6 quarter DDB progressive. At $1242, I thought that was pretty good and told my wife as much. She played for about 10 minutes and converted-
Curious about the return, I loaded it into the hand analyzer and much to my dismay, it kicked back paltry 99.1%. So I entered values into the analyzer until it exceeded 100% at $1500! No idea it had to be that high. Also, incurred tax burden on handpay. So all in all a bad choice.
Much better would have been the 9/6 quarter TDB at $1158 I found= 100.047% and no handpay.

Ditto. You can write off your losses on your Federal income tax return. The bummer is you have to itemize to do it. Because of that fact, it costs me thousands extra every year by itemizing when I don’t have enough other deductions other than gambling losses and the cap of 10,000 on writing off your state and local tax deductions. In my state, they nail you on the Gross. There is no ability to write off your losses. Double bummer Whammy! Nice hit though.

You may want to recheck those %s. The only one that looks right imo is the DDB 100% at $1500.

Good call. I'm an idiot. I had them ALL wrong! I'm also sick as a dog, which is why I'm a temporary idiot. Upon "further research", I get 99.50% for the $1242 DDB, 100.00% at $1461.50 and 99.87% for the $1158 TDB. Sound better?

Yes, except just one nitpick
I may have missed it. I know they have 9/6 progressives for both DDB and JoB, in the area near Starbucks.
If the TDB is only 9/6, then I get 98.50% for a 4632-coin royale.
Incidentally, the basic 4000-coin royal is usually worth 2%, so I use that as my guideline for quick calculations. For example, an extra 2000 coins on the royal would add ~1%, usually.

Ok, the default TDB was set at 9/7 so when I switch it to 9/6 it indeed gives me 98.50%. If I was wrong on the paytable and it was 9/5 (was late and I had several beers), $1158 royal is a lousy 97.36% at least that's what I get now. I'm sure the paytable wasn't 9/7.
Thanks for your check. I think I'll quit posting odds and paybacks. I don't have a very good success rate.
