Since I have never been to Vegas or Reno, I was just wondering about how far timewise is a trip from the strip to South Point?
From center strip (Flamingo/Caesars Palace/Bellagio), it's under 10 miles and about 15 minutes if no traffic on I-15. The scenic drive down Las Vegas Boulevard would likely be several minutes more. Many, many red lights.

South Point is popular among vp players because of its abundant full-pay games and vp-friendly slot club structure. Some of them shuttle from the airport and spend their entire Vegas vacation on premises without going anywhere else.

The reason I asked is in case I ever get out that way, it would probably be my home base. A couple that played VP quite often near me, were retirees who traveled between South Point and Mohegan Sun. They alternated between 9/6 Job, DDB, and 99.13 BP which at the time Mohegan Sun had. Very nice couple. This would be about 15 years ago. They loved MS, but always won more at SP for some reason. They also knew BD and followed his VP programs at SP.

Thanks for the info. The Mrs and I plan a Bizarro overnight tomorrow. If I play in the same general area as her ( which I plan to do ), she will help keep my bets to a reasonable level. At this point, we are working together to maintain my Ascend status. Have to reach their target number of status points they set by 3/31. Triple point days will help. Tomorrow isn’t one of them, but has a bit of free play. One thing I haven’t tried yet with my Martingale Clone play is to increase my line bets and number of lines played simultaneously. It can just get too expensive too fast even on nickels and dimes. I may be able to do it on a Triple Spin Poker Nickel game, Max bet would be 135 nickels. The big downside. 96 percent paytable. I will have to think before I jump. At least it would be an 800 for bet 1 machine for the Royal.

At one time, I would have agreed totally. More recently, though, we found that if you happen to be having a good trip, getting a meal comp was, to use an old expression, like pulling hen's teeth.

Wow! Not good. I would love to offer that as a host to entice a winner to stay and play or if was on their way out, hope for good feedback to others and a return trip soon. I will never forget our wonderful and pleasant host we had at the Wyndham Hotel and casino on the beach in Aruba. On our first trip, she asked us to stop by before our shuttle to the airport to return home. I was speechless when she gave us all 1200 bucks back in cash that we had lost on our one week stay. I bought her a nice gift in the mall just before leaving and we returned for 5 more trips
. We enjoyed every one of them.

Unless you play at least 4,000 hands every trip, you aren’t supposed to hit a Royal every 10 trips.

Right. I must amortize to not be mortified by such dead end trips. It's just rinse and repeat. Only a crash into a divider breaks cycle. 99% they say. Negligible losses they say. Practice never approximates theory.

This is an interesting observation by poster Onemoretry; I have noticed the same thing, going as far back as 2016 when I visited establishments in Pennsylvania and Resorts-Atlantic City, as well as Caesars-Windsor. If you are having a winning trip, even after a large amount of coin-in, the only freebies are from your players account points and stuff, not from simply asking a host for something. They used to give you a basic free meal without touching your players account or requiring you to use points etc. Of course it also depends on the individual host and their generosity and friendliness, but not so much these days. Sounds like this south point in Vegas is also like that.

I never get a call from my host even though my coin is about 2m a year. They just don’t like VP action much. If I ask I may get a dinner comp once or twice a year and that’s about it. The comp rooms and food are based on my tier level and play and the use or lose points I get every month. Huge change from maybe 15 years ago.

We just pulled into the Bizarro garage. Dinner comes first. Will check in later. The Mrs. Plans to stay in close proximity to my play so I don’t go overboard!
