Re: Almost a bad day
Due to the fickleness of zippers I ALWAYS wear underwear.
Clearly the white ones have been the luckiest overall but I often need to go with the blue ones to end a bad streak (pun intended).

{I'd bet that if you talked with enough people that you will find others that have had the exact opposite experience.}
You think? I'd bet bet they would agree with me.

If that is true then their are two possibilities.
1) The machines are not random
2) The people you talk to don't have experience at multiple casinos
3) People can't count
As usual I see no reasons for illegal machines when perfectly legal machines are sufficient for good profits. Look at my streak of 292 misses holding 4RF. I'm sure many people would consider that proof that the machines are fixed at that casino. However, over the same 3 year time frame I have built that streak my wife has hit to 4RF once in every 30 attempts. Now, I doubt most people that don't keep records would even know she was significantly over expectation. 1-30 is few enough that a person would not feel overly lucky or not realize the average is 1-47.

I see what you meen by people can't count.
Just messing with you I hope you know. While I realize you know far more about the games than I will ever know I still lean toward some of the more evil possibilities. To be truthfull with you if not for this site and a little help from you I might still be ignorant of some of these averages. And I agree that the casinos can make good profits without doing anything wrong. I'm of the opinion that most large corporate enities stive for the most profits possible and will do whatever it takes to achieve them. Even if they are making a ton of profit they are still looking for ways to make even more. Even If it meens bending the laws. Now with all that said I still maintain that I have have done fine playing there because of my success with quad A's which I have hit well above the averages.

Of course, you realize that if a casino was really cheating they'd have no reason to give you more quad aces. That would pertty much negate giving you fewer RFs.
Also, keep in mind that the casinos have no way to program the machines to provide more or less or any results. All they can do is set the paytable. In fact, with the newer machines the chips themselves are sealed and attempting to remove them would result in frying them.
So, you'd need to go back to the manufacturers, IGT or Ballys or whomever, to provide non-random chips. You'd also need the state government to get in cahoots with them to allow faulty chips (I bet Mississippi and Arkansas both require testing of new machines) violating their own regulations.
It's really very unlikely that anything devious is going on.

Ed, I think that is true pretty much everywhere. The manufacturers learned the hard way and now have tightened up their security in every area. The regulatory commissions share information and take their responsibilities seriously. It really wouldn't pay to even try to cheat because if you were caught you'd likely go out of business.

Eh just kinda shaking things up a bit and stir the pot, I like to keep things interesting. It's just seems odd to me that certain casinos tend to get reputations both good and bad for different reasons. Just like people getting reps for certain things sometimes they turn out to be false. I keep pretty good records of my play but my guess is mine are not as detailed as Shadowman's are. I really don't play expecting to see a royal flush as I'm sure most players don't. I guess random can be crazy and a hard thing to understand but when you play as much as myself and you only hit a couple of royals(5 years) and see less than a handfull hit by others(5 years) the mind starts to wonder. And to add fuel to the fire are the others who play and notice the same thing. Didn't help matters that I played at another casino and hit 6 royals in a little over a year and saw probably triple that amount hit by others. I don't enjoy playing at the casino where I hit the most royals though because on the stickey buttons and the crappy chairs.

pokeherguy; allpart of that wonderful streaky game we love called VP. I recall many dry spells that made me try foolish things to see if I could stir up some good luck. Most advantage players though, will tell you not to deviate from the perfect play game for max ER. I've come to grips with these cats know more than I and have thousands more hands-per-hour in then I'll ever get thus I try not to get too frustrated,bad day or almost bad day. Some might argue that it's better to have taken the minimal winnings and walk but then all the extra hits never would have occured!
