As a kid, I would borrow 50 bucks from my parents, ( that’s a lot for them.) I would get a bag of Pennie’s from the bank and I would go through them looking for Indian head pennys or the rare Lincoln dates. Then turn them back in and pay my parents back for the 100pennies or so I kept plus the other 49 bucks. More trivia. Most people know the 1943 cents were steel due the copper being needed for the war. Many of the 1944 cents were made from spent steel casings that were shipped back here from the war. Most people don’t know that part. The mint then added copper to bring them up to specs, but the process and smelters varied widely. The mint continued to use the spent casings through 1945 so your penny would have some shell material in it. There is a lot of history on this in books and on the internet. Unfortunately, many young people know almost nothing about WW2.

Just curious, is there a mint mark below the 1945 date? If not, it was minted in Philly. Letter D is Denver, and S San Fran. In hard times like in 2007-2009, I found more wheat cents in change, as people emptied out their old piggy banks. I still find one every month or so, but that could be because I still pay for many day-to-day things with cash while most people use plastic

Overnight trip planned with Mrs for Sunday evening. Kind of a last minute decision. Host comped room and brunch based on recent play. Hope the machines have reversed their recent hostility. Many times when we go together the results are also better.

That’s a lot of inspections. I guess if you have the moxie to get 5,000 pennies home, you would finish the job. The 1944 steel wheat is valued at $408,000. 1943 copper wheat $250,000.

Most ammo casings I am familiar with are brass. Never handled larger stuff, are they steel?

As far as I know most are brass. The steel in my post was a typo. Sometimes the gunpowder residue in the mints mixture with added copper would give a colorful hue to the 44-46 Pennies.

Thanks CBK. Yes!!! You always help!!! This will be just a test on my Martingale Clone and also to keep my discipline in order…..The screen shot shows my starting bankroll and game. Also starting bet amount and lines. Can I take the casino for 40 bucks or a quick 20 percent before it eats my 200 bucks. My intuition with the gangs help is yes as long as I don’t climb my bets too fast and back down when I should. It’s a tough test because this is a 96 percent machine. I still think I can pull it off. Will post either way as the game goes along……OK begin…….

Yikes!!!! The answer is yes,,, but just by the skin of my teeth!!! My climb was too steep. Next time I will cut it in half. Just pure luck this time. Thanks again CBK!!! Better take a break and go visit the Mrs in Sky casino.
