In the heat of the Cove
So, my wounds from Labor Day scabbed over, I thought I would attempt to exact some revenge on Harrah's. After checking that it was not a holiday, I manned up and drove down to AC Saturday. No promos or other events ensured it wouldn't be a madhouse though it was busier than I had anticipated.
Averaged 46.7 mpg for the 106 mile trip (tribute to olds). I went directly to the cage for my fee-free cash advance of two dimes. No 5 star seats available, so I watched an older gent play off his last fifty or so credits playing $2 TDB double pay. He was dealt 4RF and just stared at it for twenty or thirty seconds before drawing in vain. I had ambivalent feelings- I wanted to see him get the 128K, but then I wanted it for myself more. Inevitably he soon pulled his card and left shaking his head.
I'm not sure why, but I had good vibes about the Cove this time. I tore through my $265 free play with hardly any return and began to second guess my chances. Then, after a modest buy-in, I hit quad queens twice in the first two dozen or so hands, the second one after upping to $2 credits. Shortly thereafter, I managed this: They somehow didn't screw up my hand pay, but I was asked (again) "what was my occupation?" I just said I was retired- let them guess...
I took a break to grab some grub in the 7 star lounge. Tried the Octopus salad and monkfish, finishing with pumpkin cheesecake, yum. Back out to the Cove but the earlier machine was occupied. I settled for the upright 5 star machine on the floor and played off almost five bucks before nailing this (of course right after I dropped to 50 cents...)
It was my first royal since last August, and my third in a row in diamonds. I played on, losing half the proceeds and nearly, but not quite reaching 5,000 tier credits. I could have trudged on and made it, but I know what the cost is when things turn cold. So I took my remnants and flew the Cove.
Approx. 4500 hands
8 dealt straights
4 dealt flushes
6 dealt full houses
1 dealt quad
4oak - Q, Q, 4w3, 5, 8d, 5, 9, 7, 2.
4RF- 2. One converted!
Next trip sooner than later...

Congrats, TT. So it was Mr. Fate who occupied the other machine when you went back and it turns out, you were not Mr. Blue.
