VPW Double Bonus Strategy
The strategy VPW gives for DB says the total error in strategy is 0.0052%
I am not by any means saying VPW is wrong, as I have used it for years and never found an error in it, but this is my first time studying DB and I just want to make sure this is correct because this strategy makes so many changes to many spots that occur so frequently.
I am sure VPW is correct, but I would appreciate if people could confirm this and maybe explain a bit about the truncated strategy. The perfect strategy is significantly more difficult than the VPW strategy, and I would much prefer to use the VPW strategy. Thanks.

I have minimal experience with VPW, but it has a good reputation afaik.
Maybe you could satisfy your concerns by cross-referencing against the Wizard of Odds strategy calculator. WOO basic strategy for 10/7 DB is indicated at 100.1671 vs 100.1725 for computer-perfection.
That looks like about the same differential you mentioned.
As it appears to me, basic strategy is the best you can achieve without any consideration of penalty cards.
In my opinion, penalty considerations usually aren't worth the effort. As I recall, I've only used advanced strategies on joker wild games -- which are distinctly difficult to play correctly.

Is VPW short for Video Poker for Winners?

9/7 and 10/7 Double Bonus strategy is generally much more challenging to master than most common game variants.
The Video Poker for Winners strategy chart for 10/7 Double Bonus is roughly about 98% correct when around 51,000 deals out of the 2.6 million five card deals are exceptions to the Perfect Play strategy. In VPW, you can set either Perfect Play or Strategy Play, if it is on Perfect Play, you would have gotten at least 10 errors per hours using the Video Poker for Winners strategy.
The return for Video Poker for Winners strategy is still very good.
If you want the last 0.0052%, you would need to spend considerable effort to memorize those special cases. I do not think it is worthwhile.

That is correct
