As far as the slots go when you push the play button the reels stop and you have to choose which line or lines to hold then push play again.
This sounds just like the so called "Lock and Roll" slots at Cherokee. The state allowed the casino to have Slots if they were a game of skill. As pokerguy said you get two spins. The skill factor comes in in knowing the odds of any combination appearing.
Using a Double Diamond slot as an example, on the first spin you get a red 7, one single bar and one double bar, the odds of holding the two bars and getting another single , double or triple bar is greater than holding the red 7 and wishing, hoping and praying you get two more red 7s.

Wow ... 82%. That is disgusting. Obviously, there isn't much skill being utilized in Southland.

pokerherguy, I just read the article you posted. Sounds like someone told this dolt to get a story on gaming. None of the article made sense. The minium payback is what it is by law. he didn't get into the lifetime aspect of determining this payback. I'm sure they buy some slots set at 91% as stated. Remember VP is what you see on the screen. I have beat the beejeeus out of the same VP machine numerous times and swore that the Royal was not in it. Whoa two nights later I had two on that same machine one hour apart. What his(column writer) reference to the Gaming Tax has to do with the price of Coffee, I can't figure out.
If as you suggest there is some type of secondary programming involved, then the state would have to be complicict in it.
For whatever reason, Sun, Stars, Planets aligning I think we all seem to have our favorite places to play where we feel the luckiest.

I'm sure you can recall I've made a few other post concerning this place and I am still not convinced the vp they offer is on the up and up. I've heard so many rumors I don't know what to believe. I pretty much play at the Grand now because I know what I'm getting there. I almost buy into the idea that there is some type of secondary program that governs payouts on the vp machines.
Here's a link to the state gaming regs in AK, regarding electronic gaming systems:
http://www.arkansas.gov/dfa/field_audit ... egs24.html
There's a lot of specs in there that don't have anything to do with randomness. Here are the relevant sections. Section (i) is a key one, stating that odds in VP have to be the same as those you'd see if you were playing it at a table with a dealer.
24.35 Randomness Requirements
Where the authorized game or system uses a Random Number Generator (RNG) to make selections, such RNG and the selections shall:
(a) Be statistically independent;
(b) Conform to the desired random distribution;
(c) Pass various recognized statistical tests;
(d) Be unpredictable;
(e) Be cycled continuously in the background between games and during game play at a speed that cannot be timed by the player. It is understood that at some time during the game, the RNG may not be cycled when interrupts may be suspended however, this exception shall be kept to a minimum;
(i) Unless otherwise denoted on the payglass, where the EGS plays a game that is recognizable such as Poker, Blackjack, etc., the same probabilities associated with the live game shall be evident in the simulated game. For example, the odds of drawing a specific card or cards in Poker shall be the same in the live game as if a physical deck of cards were being used. Card games also must meet the following:
(k) Each possible permutation or combination of game elements that produces winning or losing game outcomes shall be available for random selection at the initiation of each play, unless otherwise denoted by the game;
(m) All Combinations and Outcomes Shall Be Available. Each possible permutation or combination of game elements that produces winning or losing game outcomes shall be available for random selection at the initiation of each play, unless otherwise denoted by the game rules;
******************
You really can go through some amazing good/bad streaks in VP on any device operating randomly (an actual VP machine, VP program on PC, VP on handheld device).

I'm not suggesting anything in reference to the place but I can say I am comfortable playing in Tunica. The good thing is I have a choice and can exercise that option any way I choose. But they have left me open to believing about anything I hear about the place.

Believe me I know that for a fact because I've played for years in the Tunica area. I've had my ups and downs but once I figured the game out I managed to finish ahead for several years running. I don't feel I stand a chance in this place.
Two years ago I couldn't lose at two of the places where I play regularly. Hit 17 RF's. At a third place I just couldn't win. At that third place, with 100K hands played I got no RF's and hit Aces w/kicker TWICE. You just never know.
