The only thing I bought this week was a little of PBR-A. Mainly as a dividend play. I’m still accumulating BRK-B, but only a few shares at a time when it gets down to near 500-515 or so. I’ve been able to do that 3 times in the last couple of weeks. Somehow, for now, I have managed to stay up 1/2 of 1 percent YTD. Amazed I have even be able to do that. Not Easy. Crystal Ball just says Rood Ruck! And rolls away smiling!!

Has the AI bubble burst? CSCO built out the internet, went from 10 bucks in 1998 top out in 1999 back to 20 bucks by 2001. To this day 25 years later never seen that all time high of 1999. Nvda following the same fate?

Unless they warn ahead, you have to wait until 5/28 for next earnings.
I'm watching MSFT, scheduled for 4/30 after the bell. I think their capex is headed lower, but they may not acknowledge it until after it happens.
AMZN is also in the mix, reporting one day earlier on 4/29.
I remain comfortably uninvolved. No position in any of them.

I'm having a big year, with my gold miners +50% on average. But what could go wrong?olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 5:55 pmSomehow, for now, I have managed to stay up 1/2 of 1 percent YTD.
NEM reports earnings Wednesday 4/23 after-hours. Last quarter, investors inexplicably sold the earnings news, dragging down the other miners also.
Here's the current:dinghy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 10:57 amLast week, Newmont Mining (NEM) beat estimates by a bunch.
Since then, the stock crashed 10%. When I comment that it doesn't make sense, people will try to justify it. "They have high costs." "The BoD is woke." "Mining sucks."
Yes, but all of those facts were well-established before last week.
The stock did have a big run to start the year, and I sold shares. Now I'm in again. Gold could pull back after its big gains, but the company enjoys unprecedented profit margins.

I sold a good chunk of my shares into the latest rally, so whatever happens this week, I'll have mixed emotions

Sometimes, you have to take at least part of the money and run. I did a back door way of doing the same thing last December. I sold my BGS and had a substantial loss. I used that to offset my gains on other stuff. Therefore no taxes. Saved me 30 percent between State and Fed. Then after the 30 day wash rule OK, I bought all the BGS back. It has been going up since then and I’m still getting the 11.48 percent dividend
Great job on the gold mines. I think I mentioned I own it and my average basis is around 500.

Wait what?
Remember several days ago when he said it was a good time to buy stocks, and it turned out to be A GOOD TIME TO BUY STOCKS!
Gold is up robustly in the Sunday night session, now trading above 3370.
I actually have dialed down significantly, but I'm still in the deep end of the pool.olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Sun Apr 20, 2025 12:29 pmSometimes, you have to take at least part of the money and run.

I can't trade anything until Monday morning, but as of now the Trump post doesn't change my trajectory of selling into strength.olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Sun Apr 20, 2025 6:44 pmLots of opportunity for quick hits, but few read past the headlines and that’s all the market reacts to.
I've heard rumors of the Trump admin considering a monetary role for gold, however it's not clearly established that the US possesses a dominant hoard of the yellow metal. Proposals to audit Fort Knox seem to have been resisted. Meanwhile, China is known to be accumulating gold. Also Russia.
Although gold is +1.5% in the hours since the Trump post, bitcoin is +3%! I'm trying to make sense of that.

I gave up trying to make sense of it All I know is there is huge money behind making Bitcoin work and keep on going up. I believe Japan and India are on the bandwagon too about hoarding gold. I would like to see an audit of Fort Knox myself. It will be another wait and see evening and Morning for me.
