Wheel of Fortune Poker
The current Weekly Contest involves Wheel of Fortune Poker. Please, put that game back in the can and leave it there. It's silly, involves no skill, and makes a mockery of both Video Poker and Wheel of Fortune.
What is the purpose of having a puzzles to solve if the player has no ability to solve the puzzle? You might as well eliminate the puzzle aspect of the game and simply have a wheel spin occur at random a few times a game.

I hate to say it. I am not happy about the direction the site is taking especially in the direction of some of the advertisers.

I totally agree with Leeknows re WOF poker. Besides not being able to guess letters or solve the puzzle yourself, what is with the deranged guesses the computer makes? In every game I've played, barring the 4 or 5 times the computer "guessed" the puzzle at the first go, the letters Q, Z, X, J, W, Y, and V have had higher priority over the most common R, S, T, N, E, and L. Now why would that be, I wonder.

In re WOF leading scorers, how does a player get awarded 10,000 credits per hand for the RF he got dealt (and what "skill" was used to get that?) when the posted maximum in this NON-MULTIPLIER game is only 4000 credits per hand?

There are lots of games that I don't like and rarely play; so, I understand your dismay about this one.CuddlyLion wrote: ↑Sun Apr 20, 2025 9:50 pm... how does a player get awarded 10,000 credits per hand for the RF he got dealt (and what "skill" was used to get that?) when the posted maximum in this NON-MULTIPLIER game is only 4000 credits per hand?
The pay schedule page of the game states "Dealt Royal Flush at max bet awards 10000 credits"; so, it would be bad if such a hand only received 4000 credits per hand.
There are other video poker games that have special awards for rare dealt hands. Deal Draw Poker awards 60000 credits for a dealt royal flush. Double Super Times Pay awards a 20x multiplier for any deal multiplier with a dealt royal flush for a total of 80000 credits per hand. Big Times Draw Poker awards 16 times the normal payout on an A2345 straight flush (the equivalent payout for a royal flush) if the dealt hand's highest-ranking card is a four or less.
Not every video poker is to everyone's liking, but in the contests, it is not at all unusual for the winning score to come from an incredibly rare dealt hand, which can almost always be the result of the luck of the computer assigning a random number (or two) to which the software assigns a large number of credits.
My previous tongue-in-cheek post referred to regular daily play rather than the contest. So far, evidently no one has received a dealt royal flush on 10-play or my 40,000+ daily score would have easily been eclipsed. When I used the word "skill," I thought it was obvious that the only talent involved was being able to press a key on the keyboard that happened at a very precisely fortunate nanosecond. If the goal is to garner the high score on a contest via perfectly skillful video poker hold selections, I'm afraid the seeker of that goal is due for an average of 5000+ disappointments before ever being "rewarded" for his unique skill level.
As some of the clues given on the Wheel of Fortune selection are described, this is of course under the topic of "Fun and Games." I also enjoy the video poker games that I deem to require more skill, but I have seen for quite some time that many do not appreciate the particular games that I think are the most fun.

Nevertheless, have fun. Play the games you like. And thanks for contributing your thoughts so that the rest of us can take time away from our own play to read other posters' insightful comments.
