Re: MARKETS,Anybody even yet?
Sometimes, after a big tank job in the market, I will look at a company again and buy after it has just started to come back say 5 percent. That can also be a booby trap as well. Either way it’s a crap shoot, I just don’t like to overpay for stuff. Could be a rough Monday. Then Trump may do nothing to AAPL if they say they will begin to move manufacturing back here. Either way, IPhone prices will go up with the potential to go way up. Like Buffett, I like to get paid while I wait. Especially, to get paid at or near what a CD would pay me. Thats pretty difficult to do. One company that it has worked great with for me is PRU. It is paying a 5 percent dividend. I have bought and sold it a bunch of times over the last 4 years, making 5-10 percent each time plus getting the dividend. I don’t own it now, but it is headed where I want it to be. In the 90s or even lower. I would like the P/E to be a little lower too. It seems to earn at least 3 bucks a share no matter what else is going on. That part I like. The bad part is it’s a big nut to buy a block of 100 for close to 10k. That limits what is left to play games with.

Tuesday

I would be more receptive to dividends if they were taxed fairly.Especially, to get paid at or near what a CD would pay me.
What's the benefit of buying blocks? You may have noticed I was buying UNH 1 share at a time. The bad part is it’s a big nut to buy a block of 100 for close to 10k.

Right, Tuesday. No benefit really. In the case of Berkshire, I buy 1-4 shares at a time. With auto reporting now with Fidelity and others, it makes filing the 1040 Sch D and 8949 easier. I agree on the tax structure regarding dividends. I just like to put something in my basket I can use to buy other stocks. I pay the taxes from other savings and try and leave the Fidelity account intact. Also in Ct, we get wacked for like 7 percent in ballpark numbers from the dividend so after State and Fed taxes, you are only left with about 70 cents out of every dollar of the dividend.
