Re: Against all odds
The situation with the clientèle in the Kansas City, Missouri casinos is not the same as what you describe Pokeherguy . These casinos are more like what you describe for Tunica. Large, huge variety of games and not at all the lower income type places.Yes Ed, Missouri is legislating morality. Last year, they "almost" got the ridiculous $500/2-hour legislation repealed but it failed to get on the docket I guess. Part of the proposed deal between the State and the Casinos was that the casinos would have to endure a large increase in tax on the profits. I do not know why it failed to get on the ballots. I can hardly NOT believe that it was the "moral majority (??)" fighting it. They certainly do not mind having the income from the casinos to supplement the education budget and repair their dismal highway system though! The limits in Kansas City are much higher than what PG described in the part of Mo that he is familiar with but they still have that $500 loss limit just as does the casino PG described. I've "observed" the double deck Blackjack games in the High Limit room at AmeriStar where the minimum is $25 and I think the max is $2,000. I've seen wagers where doubles and splits resulted in much more than $2,000 in one hand. How they accumulated that many chips with the $500 buy-in each 2 hours, I only canspeculate that they either slowly gathered it by starting with $500 and then regardless of what their stack was worth, every two hours, rebuying an additional $500 and NOT cashing in at the end of their day but rather taking their stacks either back to their rooms or home with them! I've seen stacks of $20,000 or even more in front of some of the players there.A note here: One casino guest CANNOT BY LAW give chips to another guest! They sometimes turn their heads if someone needs a $5 chip to double down and another player slides it under the table to them but any large exchange if observed, would very likely result in action to either stop it or bring legal action against the violators. The casinos are watched VERY closely to enforce this $500 law! Ridiculous! The casinos I'm thinking of are Argosy, Ameristar, Isle of Capri, and Harrah's as well as the "Terrible's" in St. Joseph, Missouri which is about 50 miles north of Kansas City.

Curiosity killed Da Cat, would these laws apply to Indian casinos as well or Sovereign land, Tribal rules?

Is Terrible's the real name?Sure is Pokeherguy. Terrible's is a fairly large chain of casinos. I think they are based out of Las Vegas. I know they have a big presence out there both as a casino and also as a chain of gas stations.

Wow they got the best of both worlds, gaming and gas. Pokeherguy; theres no doubt the gas business is good but Terrible Herbst gaming is looking to sell off several properties of theirs including the recently purchased casinos at the Nevada/California border(stateline)city called Primm. Their chain of gas stations are doing well but are also looking at cutting back on their involvement in motorsports.
