Fixture
My bath fluorescent tube has been sliding off its placement. It just won't stay tightly installed. Has anyone ever experienced this? I don't even want to put the casing back over it, since I'd just have to go back and readjust daily.

What a conundrum!
If you share a picture of the fixture, that may aid with the development of a retention solution. Try to include the surface where the fixture is mounted.

I must be missing something. Place the bulb in its slot, twist and turn or roll in to lock it. Yes a photo should help.

Thanks. It's a quirky problem. The tube end bolts sometimes drop from the bookend grooves supporting it. I have to reach up and twist the tube into a tighter position so that it can stay put for at least a few hours. I'm not in the room often and I'm tall, so it's a small inconvenience. I was just wondering how common this might be. I also just killed a tick in the room. I read that it can potentially paralyze someone for a year with a bite.

I would get a whole new fixture. Fluorescents are so '70s (and I loved the 70s). Last thing you need is a broken bulb. Get LED.
Unless you have pets, I don't get the tick thing. Either a tick is outside or it's on me, never see one "in the room", like a spider or ant. As for the paralyze for a year statement, I'm dubious...just to be on the safe side, play full coin.

Well, I tried to help. This Conductor has detoured this thread onto the tick track.
Ticks can cause paralysis but it is extremely rare.

There is a thread about fluorescent bulb pins slipping out of the socket, which accurately describes what is occurring. Locking is no longer a given. I did a nice tight twist today and hopefully it lasts. Yes, they are a nostalgic 1970s throwback. Heck if I know how a tick found its way inside, but it did. First one I’ve seen inside.

Replacement bulb connectors are readily available and you don't need to be a certified electrician to replace them.FAA wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 2:30 pmThere is a thread about fluorescent bulb pins slipping out of the socket, which accurately describes what is occurring. The tick quite easily could have hitched a ride on you and you brought it indoors.

Tick must have found its way onto my clothes or bag. Hope that’s an isolated freak incident. Nasty, ugly and vile creatures. Tube seems to be holding its ground now.
