Olds, I have to laugh about East Coast heat waves. They are really heat and humidity events. No excessive heat warning this week even though the highs have been 110-112. One has been issued for part of next week when the highs are expected to be 115 and above.
BTW, nice flowers. enjoy.

Just watched the news and you guys are 113. Ours finally broke. The humidity with no breeze was brutal. It’s 68 now.

Years ago, when I was living in NoVa, I had to go to Vegas in August on a business trip. It was 108 there and i went to visit Valley of Fire State Park when I had free time. When I got back home, it was 90. The "heat" was easier to take at 108 in Nevada than 90 in Virginia. That's when I knew moving to AZ years later, I could deal with the summer temperatures.

I believe it. When we used to go to Nags head on vacation, just one block from the shore was unbearable with the humidity.

Love Nags head and the entire OBX. Haven't been there for too many years but the seashore from Nags Head to Hatteras and then to Ocracoke fit this topic.olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Sat Aug 02, 2025 2:45 pmI believe it. Absolutely! Really miss going down there. 11 hour drive for me. Traffic worse now than 30 years ago.

We finally had one of our original and traditional dinners we had regularly growing up in the 1950s. The Mrs put it together. Oldsters will remember and youngsters will enjoy if they haven’t tried it yet. Chopped steak either baked or seared in a cast iron skillet. Fresh mashed potatoes, and fresh zucchini or green and yellow squash. Just starting to come in now, but available at the market. Rich brown mushroom gravy to top it off. Yum. We also had a fresh fruit cup dish on the side, sliced grapes, strawberries, banana, blueberries, and bing cherries. Awesome!
