Question about Holding Aces in Double Bonus

Post by Ace Roller »

Hello, I have a question about a specific scenario in double bonus poker when it comes to holding aces.

Recently while using my trainer on this site, I tried to hold an ace of spades and a king of hearts, but the trainer gave me the yellow light and told me that the perfect play was to only hold the ace of spades. Ok, so I thought this is one of the many differences I found between playing regular bonus poker and double bonus poker.

But then a few hands later, I had a ace of diamonds and a king of hearts. Well Lo and Behold, when I tried to only hold the ace of diamonds, now the trainer is telling me that I was supposed to hold the ace of diamonds AND the king of hearts? I just can't win.

So which is it guys? What am I not seeing here? What am I missing? I'm totally stumped on this.

It depends on the other cards in the hand. If there is a card of the same suit as the ace (i.e., a flush penalty) and a two , three, four, or five (a low straight penalty), draw to the ace-king. Otherwise, it's the ace alone.

An exception to the foregoing occurs if the hand also contains an offsuit ten. In that case, you draw to the ace only, even if you have those flush and straight penalty cards. Simple, eh?

Too easy, olds. Rev. Jim Ignatowski. This picture is from the episode where he takes his driver's license test to become a cab driver.

Q - "Psst. What does a yellow light mean?"
A - "Slow down."
Jim, shaking his head...

"Whhaaatttt ddoooeeeessss aaa yelll ooohhhh lliiigggghhhhhttttt Mean?"

Heeeee. Yes, that was a bit too easy. I just wanted to make sure the gang knows they get a small treat if they get out this way. I loved that show. Now I’m going to have to watch some reruns. Good Job Ted! Just watched that scene again on YouTube!! 😂
