Re: MARKETS,Anybody even yet?
I know I missed the boat here, but I’m starting to look further into a Saffron stock. Saffron sells for 5-10k a pound, but is very labor intensive. Iran has 90 percent of the Market, but India and Spain are big players too. I’ve got my eye on this for weakness. Talk about missing the boat, I missed the Ark!

I think it's fine to own both (as I do), but WDOFF has far superior potential afaik.
How would you obtain it? It doesn't trade in the States.olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 8:03 pmI know I missed the boat here, but I’m starting to look further into a Saffron stock.
I'm sympathetic to anything agricultural or food & beverage-related. I think I own a dozen or so names with some connection.

Good question. Haven’t gotten that far. Just stumbled on it today. May have to call and ask Fidelity. Looks like they don’t trade in India, but there may be etf options. Got other fish to fry for now.

General impressions. Saffron Industries is unrelated to the saffron spice. It's just a name they picked. They do paper products.
I only found one saffron spice producer with a public listing: Apis India (Bombay BSE ticker symbol APIS). It's a small-cap with only a US $30 million valuation, so it's not held by the India country ETFs available in the US. The stock has had a big run, and I've avoided India due to apparent high valuation.
To buy APIS, you would need Bombay BSE access -- available from Interactive Brokers (not Fidelity). The IB commissions look reasonable, although I'm not sure I understand exactly how the pricing works. I think you get ... "dinged" not only on the commission, but also currency conversion.

Correction on Apis. I shouldn't describe them as a producer. I think they're more of a processor/distributor/retailer. Their major product is honey, along with other natural items such as dates and saffron.

Coming soon probably to a Cracker Barrel near you

Now I'm vetting my companies to be sure they're not run by leftist white women in ugly eyeglasses.
At Wesdome, this was the worst I could find:

I rate this as acceptable because sunglasses functionally have larger, sturdier frames. And the color complements her hair. No idea whether she needs vision correction, but if so I assume she wears contact lenses like a normal person.

COTY is -20% today on poor earnings and guidance. Earlier this year I bought a little, but I doubt I'll be adding.
