Daily Contest - Super Times Pay

Post by raymorse »

I played this game 8 times today (50 hands per game). I NEVER got a multiplier above 5X. Whoever does the programming should check the random multiplier algorithm.

I am not certain that the RNG is working correctly, nor do I know how many people might have played 400 hands.

The probability of getting a multiplier above 5x on any given deal is 10% x 1/15 = 1/150 or odds of 149 to 1. 8x multipliers occur 6% of the time that there is a multiplier, and 10x multipliers occur 4% of the time. They are the only multipliers in this game that are greater than 5x. So, the probability of NOT getting a multiplier greater than 5x on any given hand is 1 - 1/150 = 149/150.

Thus, the probability of having 400 consecutive hands with no multipliers above 5x are (149/150)^400 = about 0.06887.

If there were about 1000 people, including you, playing 400 hands today, and the RNG was in fact working correctly, we could expect around 68 other people being as unlucky as you were today. Maybe there were lots more than that.

Hopefully, your luck will improve tomorrow. Even if the RNG is working correctly, it is never fun to be in the set of people having outcomes in the lower 7% in any game.

There were 1894 players in the contest. If New2VP's numbers are correct (and they are almost always correct) then about 130 people experienced the same thing you did. It's unsurprising, but that doesn't make it feel any better when it happens to you. The RNG is working just fine, however.

Yep, never worked in a union. As a high school and college student, I worked at a supermarket that was an Ohio competitor of Kroger. Kroger was unionized; when their workers went out on strike, we continued to work and got paid. When Kroger increased their wages according to a new contract with their union, Big Bear workers would get the same wage increase; so, not ever missing a paycheck, we were not incentivized to vote for our stores to become union shops. We would work on Labor Day then, too, because people still needed groceries and sundries on holidays, and we would get double time pay. It was a terrific job for my teens and early twenties.
