Good example of opening bell (9:30 am) wackiness:

NEM was rolling along near 83, but then collapsed 2% in an instant.

Spectacular buying opportunity imo, except for the widened bid-ask spread compared to normal. I got one fill (at 81.33) and one fail (81.28).

Then late in the session, NEM crashed 3% on a rumor that it will buy full ownership of the Nevada Gold Mines venture from Barrick. Newmont is cash-heavy from its asset sales and gushing cash flow. One reason people hate gold miners is because they've historically done bad deals at cycle tops.

Landslide win for the good guys (relatively speaking) in Argentina.

In theory, my related stocks (BMA, CRESY, GGAL, LOMA, PAM, YPF) should effervesce tomorrow.

Gold (both spot & futures) has taken out $4000, from the wrong direction.

I'm replenishing my miners. I love NEM below 78, WDOFF below 14.50, and AGI below 30. Among others.

$4000 looking like a support level? Any serious breach and look out below.

I can't find the "serious" button on my calculator :P.

It's not clear to me why 4000 would have any particular significance. I don't see any history of congestion at, or touches of that level. Regardless, I'm happy to buy more of my miners if they want to present me the opportunity.
