I received another e-letter from Rob, where he repeats his claim that leaving GT was his choice. He's still upset about that - more so than you'd think if it was his choice - he uses a bad word (which I won't repeat ) to describe people who write columns for money. But maybe that's just tough talk.
I don't know exactly when the e-letter was written, but a few days ago I wrote in this thread that Rob would have been better served to follow the K.I.S.S. principle in explaining his departure from GT - I suggested that he should simply have said that he didn't want to be a wage-slave. Well, guess what? That's the reason he gives in this latest e-letter. (No royalties necessary for that suggestion, Rob, I'm always happy to help someone with their patter)
He mentions that he'd contacted some casinos across the country about making appearances for training/speeches. The casinos that know him best (NV) turned him down, one in AC accepted. He gives the location, date, time. So, we here on VP.com expect a full report from one or more of our AC players (faygo, Boops, etc.). He says that he's not accepting a fee; maybe the casino will just be giving him some free slot play.
He closes by saying that he'll soon be putting out more details on the new pattern deception stuff.

More like free booze. That will cost them plenty. Gulp Gulp. Man can he put it away every hour he is awake.

As soon as he conjures up a feel good believable magic story that some homeless guy that used to be a programmmer for XYZ game company shared with him if he would keep it a secret for 6 years and 3 months and 3 days. In return he wanted a bottle of maddog.

According to Fa La La La La.... La la la la he was GT's "most popular writer ever". Talk about delusions, Fa La La La La.... La la la la has the patent. How often would a rag, even one as poor at GT, let someone go they consider popular. Sorry, Robbie, but we all know better.
In the same vein, I would avoid the Taj Mahal on Sept. 10th as I'm sure it will be SRO with traffic jams unlike anything Atlantic City has ever seen. Or, we might just hear about how it all falls apart ...

If I was to be in AC at the time, I'd plan on attending. I wouldn't be there to hear his schtick, but I've never met the guy and I'd like to see how he comes off in person.
He says he'll be making a 2 hour presentation. My magic 8-ball ("knows all, sees all") has already told me how it will go:
1) A one and a half hour diatribe against his critics.
2) 30 minutes of "ifs", "ands", "buts", and "maybes" on his play strategy.
I wonder what Rob would do if that casino offered to clear an area around a bank of VP machines so that he could SHOW a class how to win.
EDITED: Better idea. Rob arrives at the casino and finds that the setting has been changed from a classroom type thing to the cleared area around some machines that I mentioned above. Poopie-time for Rob, I think.

Trumps Taj Mahal is too classy a place to actually have him their to do anything. My prediction is that at the last minute he will come up with one of his "Famous Cop Outs."

It's all about money, faygo. I'm sure that Taj Mahal feels that his appearance will bring in more business that day, so it will help their bottom-line. Expecially if the players are getting their play in AFTER Rob's talk.

I don't think Rob would have any problem staying calm, cool, and composed in a venue where he's the only presenter. But as we saw here in any one of his short visits he simply loses it when people do anything but accept his statements without question. Um, maybe I should say that's when he brings out the tough talk.
I wonder if Rob would have accepted the Taj Mahal gig if they'd proposed some sort of panel discussion with conventional-play experts? I don't think so.
If Rob knew that some of us were planning on attending, oej, I'd want to run Rob through a metal detector first to be sure that he wasn't packing. Shadowman and yourself would be most at risk; the rest of us would at least have time to duck and cover.

Only thing he packs is a purse, chapstick, and slotcards so he can get points, visine, and a hangover.
