Videopoker: well, here again they show what a rinky dinky non-regulated place they are. A regulated casino should only pay you in cash in front of the winning machine to make sure it is on security's video tape.

And, once again, the check thing is just total hogwash. Total!

As far as the begging woman, I have that happen all the time and I always say, "The casino will kick you and me both out if I lend you money," and then I point to the nearest camera. It usually works but there have been a few times where I had to become a bit more serious in tone.

But I never give out a dime, not just because I'm cheap (ask my ex) but also because once you start they NEVER stop.

I will say that most regulated casinos will react very, very strongly with ye olde boot if they see someone begging in any form whatsoever. People in life who are low enough to take advantage of your good nature deserve to be booted, ok? If someone is so addicted that they arrived at the casino without making necessary arrangements to get themselves home, then perhaps a 25 mile walk back home will provide the necessary lesson in discipline.

('Course, those with the most discipline of all are those savvy guys in patterned pants who bring their own motorcycles to the casino and ride through the night back home at 90 mph with $50,000 in cash stuffed into their saddlebags.)

Congrats on a great hit! My very first royal ever was dealt to me(alas,on a single line machine.) I happened to be playing on a bartop, and when I got my handpay(this was before TITO & all wins over $400 were paid by an attendant) every juicer at the bar was hitting me up for drinks!

Nice hit, we have local sort of a casino here they don't have a problem paying for jackpots the hard part is actually hitting one. I've been known on occasion to play without my players card ($10 per hand) and thats brings the surfers out. They have several people just walking around the casino looking for a chance to earn ponts on other peoples money and they will even put thier cards into the vp machines and sit back waiting for someone to play. I've never had that happen to me before all the years I played in Tunica. Speaking of begging for money I had a lady that would not give up so I finally said I had to go to the restroom and got up and left. I went into the restroom and walked up to the urinal and believe it or not she was right behind still wanting some money. She sure shocked me but not wanting to be outplayed by her I unzipped (which would scare any normal women other than my wife) and went about my business. By the way, she was no normal woman, didn't faze her a bit she still wanted some money, I guess to but some teeth or something. I did give her $2 which to most of the folks who frequent this particular casino is a nice little chunk of change. I've also had the chance to buy my share of Rolex watches there ( I always get a kick out of a guy wearing a t-shirt trying to sell me his Rolex). Cases of cigarettes, rings and some other things from a few of the ladies. If you play long enough in the casinos theres no telling what you might see or experience.

Anyway great hit and I hope you're on a roll.

Ed- What part of Socal are in that you are so close to all those casinos? The Temescal Valley? Escondido? what are the pay schedules like at Barona (was there once a long time ago) and Valley View? funny you mentioned soboba. used to go there all the time in college. shady place (Was then and still is). i remember they used to have that full contact cage fighting on the weekends. Unfortunately, all of those casinos are too far from where i live to go out there for 5 hours of so on a saturday night, esp. when you factor gas in.  That's what i was at San Manuel. Since they extended the 210 out all the way to San Bernardino, it's real quick. Literally 1.25 hours from door to door.

Rascal- One of the slot personnel told me after i mentioned that begger that if i had told her she would have told her she can't do that. However, i was worried that if i told on the lady, who knew what she would have done. I figured, it was worth taking a chance for $5 to see if she would leave. i was going to assess it at that point if it didn't work. luckily, it did. this is the first time i can remember in my years of gambling that someone has asked me for money. let's just say that lady was a few cards short of a deck!

Pokeherguy- wow, can't believe she followed you in the bathroom! she must have been desperate. although, who knows if my lady would have done the same! where part of the county is the casino in that this incident happened? too funny!

Yep, true story! I really did give her $2 and I told social security at the casino but I'm not sure how they handled the situation. I could be wrong but with high gas prices and casino revenues down I suspected she might work for the casino and it was some type of experimental plan to try and collect even more gaming dollars. While I pay very little attention to the gals in thier tiny little maid costumes who bring my drinks at most of the casinos you can't help but appreciate the fact that thier goils are fully dressed (pants, long sleeve shirts and I bet granny panties).  Calling the waitresses plain janes would be to kind, I believe the proper word would be frumps. The casino is located in a swamp but the land would be put to better use if they turned it into a nuclear bomb testing site. I haven't recieved anything in writing yet but I've lost enough there to be entitled to 1/3 ownership.

The few that give you trouble about issuing a check seem to believe that you, the winner, are so weak that a wallet full of cash will go right back into their machines and they will keep the jackpot you won.

Good advice, to get a large payout as a check or to find some other way to protect yourself from...yourself.

My fave true-life "learn from this" example:

A few years ago during a Vegas trip a woman sat down next to me and hit a $1 Royal right off the bat.  She took the jackpot in cash, decided it was her lucky night, and switched to $2/$5 play.  In just 2-3 hours she played it all back in.  I don't think she saw a single quad after that Royal.   She sat down next to me the next night, and the first thing she said was, "I can't believe I did that!".

Yeah, money won in a casino remains the property of the casino UNTIL you walk out the door with it!  It's a good policy to live by.

Vidopoker: 90 mins to San Manuel? Sweet. North part of the Orange curtain.is home and about 1.5-2.5 hrs to most Injun casinos. Soboba is still as you remember but San Jacinto is growing like many rural cities. Best paytables I can find now are 9/5 DB or 8/5 DDB which puts them into the negative column until you factor in RFB comps and CB. Found a bank of progressives at Sycuan casino that had 9/5 DDB on them but have since disappeared. PHOOEY! Baronas paytables are also 9/5 DB and 7/5DDB. Temescal valley is about 2 hrs from here if you're referring to the west SF valley.
