when are you going ed? and where are you staying at?
Well, depending on how well the trip goes, i *might* consider leaving a few A's with kickers for you. Early xmas gift! Well what a nice gift! I'll be visiting the Eastern Fiesta this trip out. Never made it to the Rancho one yet but understand inventories are similar. Counting Sq. Ft. of floor space and machine inventories etc, I guess us Californians should consider ourselves a bit spoiled since many casinos here have the max 2,000 machine count. A few places with near 200,000 sq. ft of floor space and lots of head room. Now if we could just convince the Injuns to up their paytables to LV standards, we'd have no reason to leave the state.

Yes it was Scorpio, specifically Rio, Paris and Bally's. However, the bonus dollars could be earned playing at any Southern Nevada Total Rewards casino.
BTW, VP, I'll be in Vegas Nov 13-15th, staying at Caesar's. Will play alot at The Palms and probably Red Rock as well.
And finally for those of you who care here is Fa La La La La.... La la la la's article about the Harrah's $3000 comp:
What’s with that Harrah’s offer for $3000 cash on Jan. 2-5? Apparently thousands got them yet few can actually book it. I did talk to Management at the Rio and they confirmed all the offers were the same to everyone who got one, and that there was no snafu—which I highly doubt. I do know 2 Platinum card holders who booked it successfully, and I also know two Seven Stars who were turned down as I was, and two more who didn’t even receive the offer! Confusing to say the least. Someone who puts more than a million dollars through the machines gets stiffed with “the offer’s all sold out” while someone with 4700 points (or $47,000 through) gets to book it successfully? This has helped set my plans for 2009. I’m already qualified for diamond for another year, and I’ll continue to go for their offers and take their free trips to wherever. But I won’t play a dime at any of their properties even though I’ve had decent luck at a few of them. I’ve already mailed the letter and shot off the e-mails on this to HET. And that $40,000 Royal flush I got at Caesar’s 2 months ago feels that much better now

Since I got this comp letter last week and calling and finding out they were booked almost immediately, I've been doing some thinking about this whole thing...
The letter must be an error...it should have been $300 cash. Here's my reasoning:
1-Even a video poker player at my level ($15-25/deal) would consider going to Vegas for a free weekend and taking the $3000 cash and not even playing. At least not playing at a Harrah's casino. I'd more likely invest at The Palms or a Stations casino at a full pay/over 100% payback machine. The casinos must realize the temptation NOT to play, especially at Harrah's, is too high.
2-How could (if Fa La La La La.... La la la la's info is accurate) Platinum level players possibly get this offer as well as Diamond and Seven Star players. The casinos would only throw this kind of money at proven players that will normally wager $100k plus through the machines in 3 days, not someone who would only play $10k through. Even the worst payback percentage slot machines return 80-85%. So a Platinum level player would only lose $1500-2000 on this trip on average.
3-I have never been turned down on any sold-out offer by any host since becoming a Diamond player with Harrah's. They must be scripted to tell the customers that there is nothing they can do on this one.
4-This offer never showed up on MY Harrah's website account. All their offers show up on the website a day or two after the mailers go out, even if they're full already. They do this because alot of players just throw the mailers out and look at the website now. This happened to me in July with a $400 cash offer. I got the mailer but threw it away when I wasn't planning on using it. A few days later we decided to go and tried to book online, message came up stating it was full. Called VIP services, got connected to the host on duty, got in on the offer no problem. That offer remained on the website until the dates passed. This offer never showed up on the website.
My best guess here is the mailers went out showing $3,000 rather than $300, customers started calling to reserve the offer, customer service reps booked the offer until someone realized what the heck was going on and froze it out. I bet there are less than a few dozen players who actually were able to book this offer.

I am awestruck that a Platinum would get this offer. I and all the 7*'s I know and talked to personally didn't get this offer (and sounds like I wouldn't have been able to use anyway).I think it was a mistake and they had to honor a few to keep it legal.

Agreed Lizzy...I've scanned the letter and have been trying to attach it here but haven't figured out how yet.

i agree damule. when i first read someone mention $3,000, it didn't sound right. and as judge judy says, "if it doesn't sound right, it's probably not true."

sounds like a problem for the regulatory commission.
