Do you like your local casino?
There must be something special about 'going away' to a casino, for me anyway. Since Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs [N.E.PA] opened, less than 30 minutes away, it hasn't captured the fun of a trip to AC. I find the layout less than user friendly, and actually don't feel comfortable playing there. Oh, and poorer pay tables doesn't help, lol.
I can't pinpoint why, [like AC, some wins, some losses] but I was wondering, does anybody find gambling less exciting when it becomes common, as opposed to a special event?

THE PAY TABLES AT POCONO DOWNS ARE BAD. THAT IS THE FIRST PLACE WHERE I SAW A 6/5 JOB MACHINE. I`M ASSUMING THAT SINCE THEY BUILT ON TO THE CASINO AND ADDED MORE MACHINES THEY HAVEN`T IMPROVED THE PAYSCALES THERE.
I DO ENJOY HARRAH`S AT CHESTER, PA THEY HAVE NSU DEUCES WILD. I HAVE HIT SEVERAL JACKPOTS THERE. THE PLAY YOU ACCUMULATE DOES GO TOWARD YOUR TOTAL REWARDS ACCOUNT. THEY ALSO HAVE THE PLAYERS CLUB THAT LOOKS OVER THE RACE TRACK AND DELAWARE RIVER.
PHILA. PARK IS GOOD BECAUSE I GET SOME GOOD PLAY TIME ON THERE MACHINES AND THEY ARE GENEROUS WITH WEEKLY CASH COUPONS.

I grew to despise my local casino which is around two years old now. I'm not real big on all the comps, I just enjoy playing, so the small time atmosphere was not a problem for me. What put this place to bed for me was they had the same games with the same paytables as the bigger casinos but the vp machines failed to compensate at the rate of the larger casinos without question. No one knows why, but judging from the attendence my guess is that others players realized this also.

Paytables aren't all that great & sometimes it's very hard to find a machine.I only go a few times a year & never spend more than $100, just not worth it.

Makes me wonder why they showed up in Casino Player's Best Of issue as having the best Video Poker in the Native South casinos. How bad can the others be?

If there aint that many machines, the paytables aint so hot and you have to wait for openings even though you know they aint so hot, Thats SCARY!

The Meadows Casino outside of Pittsburgh is 20 minutes from my house. I have been going there since it opened last June (10 times since opening) but I still enjoy Atlantic City (6 trips in 14 months) much better.
The Meadows offers me a place to go to enjoy playing some poker machines and some slots but all they have are the machines. Now when they open the fixed casino next summer they will have 4,000 machines and the horse racing.
Atlantic city offers so much more in variety and selection of games and the hotel rooms.
