White Christmas in Vegas?
Wow! I've been reading a lot about the Snow Storm that's hit Las Vegas. There were power outages expected because of the weight of the ice and snow on the power lines.

The last I heard there was only around 7K without power. That was last night so it could be more now although it doesn't look like we had any real accumulation last night. The temperature started going up a few degrees and the snow changed to more of a mix. Outside my house it looks to be already melting and I suspect it will be completely gone later today.

Las Vegas Sun put snowfall at 5-11" depending on location. Broher-in-laws 2miles NW of GVR got only a dusting but places like Red Rock and Pahrump got it pretty good. Lots of good video of desert snow. Arizona got equally hit.

SM, from the pictures I saw, I'm wondering why you left the North Country. Do the Vegas casinos have heat or just air conditioning? The old deal finger could get frostbite.

Las Vegas winters aren't as warm as you might think. The average temperature range for the next month is 55-35 and often dips into the 20s. So, you can bet there is plenty of heat. Even all those machines would have trouble keeping the temperature warm at 20 degrees.

Guess I didn't do too bad then. 66F yesterday and again today. Next Monday we are scheduled to dip to 41F. These folks won't be leaving home.
