Shadow, my guess is that Vido is referring to all-star poker which has the MG/MD menu but a little more arcade looking machine case and graphics as opposed to a standard game king.

yes, those sound like the machines. whether they are new or not, i have NEVER seen them in a casino before until December and I play video poker most of the time when at a casino and I always scavenge the floor at the casinos. The two casinos I have seen them at have had HORRIBLE paytables!!
ok..found a picture on igt website.
I think I also recall an option to bet an addtional 3 or more credits per hand to increase the payouts.

The games in an All Star machine are really no different than Game Kings. It's just a different format that allows more games to be available on a single machine. So, you will have no idea as the payback of any game unless you page through to see it.
However, it does seem like the paytables are worse on average.

Game King menus are MG/MD but the games are standard games which all VP games are based. The All Stars menu is also MG/MD but carry the hybrid or variant VP games IE; spin, chase the royal, super times pay, multi strike etc. Yes those are the 6th coin required for max payout or bonus round activation games. A bad bet IMO but fun to play once in awhile. All Stars appeared at Pechanga and Viejas late 2007 and Sycuan and Barona picked up a couple in 2008.

no use up comps at harrahs and play at places where the vp paytables are better harrahs is likely to file ch 11 then go into ch7 as debt refinancining not likely. when they went private equity they planned to sell of property and the market melted down and desperate. las vegas got to greedy and made everything a profit center food shows rooms. this is not what got them sucessful giving deals on food shows rooms and now killing vp. at 97.5% best at harrahs who needs them i will take 100.76% plus comps at palms with good sites

Curious you mention Palms. I've been there several times on Vegas trips and never saw any full pay tables. At least for SDDB which is what I almost always play. If it's other games, I likely didn't look at paytables. Actually I made a huge hit there playing craps, not much VP luck.
Kind of the story for me lately, I win at tables and give it back at VP.
As to where to avoid playing, is St. Louis Lumeire is the place I win nicely, Harrah's is a push or slightly winning, Ameristar and Casino Queen are the places I lose.
