bdancer says it could lead to errors in judgement=loser. Strange, I read a column every month by Bob as well as blog entries in Casino player. He suggests taking a break periodically if you feel fatigue as well as Bill Burton who suggests a light snack as well. Jean Scott suggests the same or a shopping trip to forget the game for an hour or so. Where did you read this entry about his disapproval of taking a break?

Respectfully guys....on the subject of RS...I took him up last year on his offer to help any player who asked.  He picked me up at my hotel (The Rio) in his car.  We drove to two other properties where he checked in and "got the treatment" (at Planet Hollywood we were taken upstairs to a lounge/lobby for check-in and I was afraid to touch anything it was so NICE!  He checked in under his real name, got comps and free play that I couldn't believe, and then he took and treated me to a very expensive dinner where we really started to talk about vp). After dinner we went and randomly selected a single line multi-play machine where he taught me the correct way to play one of his strategies I was interested in.  I used my card for comp credit and he gave me the choice to use my money and keep all the winnings for myself or go half'n'half and split the take while I learned the plays.  I played slowly and deliberately trying to learn his reasoning for some of his "special plays" and when to use them.  Our progression eventually took us to the $10 level...I'll be honest...I CHICKENED OUT!!  He didn't...on his money he proceeded (wanting to teach me an important lesson) and within a couple of hands "BANG" a quad, $2,500 W2G and a big smile.  It was great!  On our way back to my hotel he told me that if I am not comfortable playing the higher limits, then set my goals lower and do the same thing on the lower denom games. All in all I wouldn't trade that evening for anything.  He did everything he claims to do and taught me to do the same if I wanted to.  Can't ask for more than that.I have since been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma (which this Thursday is my last Chemo treatment and they say it is all gone...hurray!) and have only been back to LV once since then.  I told RS that I was coming back to town for Harrah's Great Gift Wrap up Promo.  (I'm a 3 year Diamond and I had lots of points).  He met up with me again, treated me to a great lunch, asked about my health problems,  and then we went shopping courtesy of Harrah's.Say what you want....call me an idiot...I've met him, he's everything he claims in his vids and articles, and he's got me winning on back to back trips to LV using his systems.  That's something I hadn't accomplished in my previous 6 years of playing vp as an adv. player.  It's just the truth! My real name is J. Carter and I am from Central Florida and I have never been asked or promised or paid to say the things I have just wrote in my post.  My email is Rolanddude@aol.com.  Hopefully, for some of you, this may clear a few myths.  Which by the way, RS gets a kick out of...

Not sure I understand. Maybe you were playing a different strategy or started at a different level.. However, if you lost $400 @ $1, $800 @$2 and $2000 @ $5 then winning $2500 (on a single hand) still has you behind by $700 not counting what you lost prior to that hand at the $10 level ($50/hand). (Maybe those 45 credit wins covered these losses but that seems unlikely.)
This does not seem to be a very good recommendation. In addition, I thought the win goal was $2500 ... why did you stop?

However, keep in mind that you should win more often using a progression. This is mathematical fact. Also, you will have a few big losses ... another mathematical fact. Finally, the expected return is no different over time. You are simply exchanging a few more winning sessions for some very big losing sessions. If that is what you want then by all means keep it up.

I'm not even going to discuss the magic elixir ... special plays. And, please get back to us once your experience a few of those large losing sessions.
More than once I've seen someone come out and support him after a few winning sessions. I've yet to see anyone support him who has used it for many years. Curious, don't you think.

I'm not sure you do understand Shadow...I wasn't playing that progression or strategy.  We were playing ARTT...at first only on the .25 through 2.00 progression.  When we were through with the training on that level he went on to 1, 2, 5, 10 and played...I was chicken like I said.  So I guess in this particular instance not knowing all the details caused you to flunk the math...oops!

I have since been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma (which this Thursday is my last Chemo treatment and they say it is all gone...hurray!)

Congratulations on the success in beating your lymphoma.

I've met him, he's everything he claims in his vids and articles, and he's got me winning on back to back trips to LV using his systems.

At the risk of sounding facetious, when looking at the entire body of RS's articles, videos, and e-letters he's claimed everything at one time or another, often contradicting himself, so I don't know that I can dispute your statement that he's "everything he claims".  In his recent Rio video he states that he doesn't play games with kickers, yet we had posts here from him mentioning quads w/kicker hits.  That's just a recent one.  He used to have similar stories on his site, but I haven't checked recently to see if they're still there.  If he was successful with games like DDB/TDB/SDDB then why switch?

I've had several instances where I've had consecutive winning trips to Vegas, and I don't use any of RS's information.  So, using the same short-term logic you use and comparing the results of consecutive winning Vegas trips, I could say that I don't see anything especially useful in what he has to say.  Most of my play is at the casinos here in Colorado, and I always end up having at least one run of 5 or more consecutive winning sessions in a given year.  Again, that's done without RS's help.  The reason I point that out is that there's a danger in attaching too much importance to short-term success, and the two trips you mention would be considered short-term.  In my case it's been many years since I've had less than 100 sessions in a year, and judge my success (or failure) each year by net $'s from all sessions, not just a few of them.

For someone who claims to play VP for a living, net $'s are much more important than a high winning percentage of sessions - the $'s are what you pay bills with.

He's said this year that because of machine tampering by casinos he's not risking his own money right now, just casino incentives.  Has he passed on any advice to you about this?

Hopefully, for some of you, this may clear a few myths.

Not for me, but others might have different thoughts on the benefits of short-term approaches.  Congratulations again on the good news with your lymphoma.

Well, help me out then. Why did you say "our progression" initially? How much did he invest at 1,2,5 before he moved to $10? What were the overall results? Did he reach his stated goal before quitting?

cddenver,he has actually advised all who correspond with him to play at your own risk right now....that's what we do anyway I guess hehe...!  Truthfully, I don't know if what he is testing right now is true or not.  But I tend to think things might have been tightened up electronically in this down time judging by the tightening of pay tables during the growth years of most of these mega resorts.  I lean towards not trusting them.On his contradictions you mentioned...He told me that since TBP is available now on most multiplay machines that this game is preferred over DDB or the others you mentioned that he used to play.  TBP's quads pay 250, 600, 1200 respectively and require no kicker.  If the flush pays at least 5 then play it only after you have lost your allotted credits on BP.If time goes by and games evolve as they have, I assume he'll continue to change games and tweak his advice on his strategies to fit the game.  It was not contradictary to state that he doesn't play kicker games.  I don't use a rotary phone anymore, but I once did.  Things changed for the better. Thanks again for the kudos...ps...I wish I could leave my business more to go play in LV.  I only get to go 4 times a year.   The rest of the time I "fantasy" play on VPFW using Rob's different strategies and keeping up with my results on Excel spreadsheets.  The results have been good so far...

cddenver,
But I tend to think things might have been tightened up electronically in this down time judging by the tightening of pay tables during the growth years of most of these mega resorts.  I lean towards not trusting them.

We had a recent discussion on the subject of machine rigging and never did get a satisfactory answer as to why casinos would legally lower paytables and illegally modify game software at the same time, risking considerable penalties.

On his contradictions you mentioned...He told me that since TBP is available now on most multiplay machines that this game is preferred over DDB or the others you mentioned that he used to play.  TBP's quads pay 250, 600, 1200 respectively and require no kicker.

Been a while since I've been to Vegas but I've seen TB+ on multigame/multidenom machines there for years.  He may play higher denom machines than I do.

If time goes by and games evolve as they have, I assume he'll continue to change games and tweak his advice on his strategies to fit the game.  It was not contradictary to state that he doesn't play kicker games.  I don't use a rotary phone anymore, but I once did.  Things changed for the better.

The analogy of kicker games to phone technology really isn't a good one, since the mathematics of VP games don't change over time.  Same math for DDB/TDB today as when they first came out.

The rest of the time I "fantasy" play on VPFW using Rob's different strategies and keeping up with my results on Excel spreadsheets.  The results have been good so far...

If Rob's strategies work on PC software operating randomly, then why does he feel the need to develop theories of flawed/tampered RNGs (patterns) in real machines?
