2 Royals in 1 day
I've really enjoyed reading everyboyd's stories & wanted to share my own.Hubby went to Vegas for training & I tagged along. I was on my own Wed to Friday. A little background, my MO is to put $20 in a quarter machine & if nothing happens, move on. I also like blackjack (but oddly will buy in for $100 with no qualms).Wednesday, I held my own (including 4 aces on DB at the Stratosphere) & came back to the room with $100 more than I had left with.Thursday morning, I hit a quarter royal on DB at Main Street Station* (held the dealt spades 10, Q, J & A & the king came on the draw). Once I gotten to just under $1200 & it spit out an $8.75 ticket to get me back under. So, I cashed out & then put about $60 back in ($20 at a time) but nothing else was happening.*Over the course of the 3 days, I got 4 scratch off worthy hands. They were all $2. A little more gambling here & there & I ended up back at "my" machine at the Stratosphere. The 2nd hand was quad 2's. Not too long after, I was dealt 4 to the royal in diamonds & the missing 5th card came on the draw. I couldn't believe it! Before today, I'd only had 2 royals in my life & got 2 in 1 day. Then came quad 3's. Unfortunetly at this point, a passerby stopped & started talking to me. At 1st it was the usual "wow that's great" chit chat. Then it started, "I just need $20 to get in the poker tournament". I finally asked if he expected to get it from me & he said "maybe". I said no & tried my best to ignore him. While he was not overtly aggressive or even unfriendly, I got really creeped out. Once he left, I cashed out my ticket & put $20 back in but when I hit quad kings & couldn't enjoy it because I was still weirded out, I decided it was time to go.I even took a cab back to my hotel-only a $6.90 fare if that tells you how close it was.Friday was a bust. We were staying at the Hilton & it was the main source of money drain-I couldn't win a thing here.Saturday was mostly siteseeing with hubby but I had a little luck at Bally's on DB. In the morning, I put in $20 & cashed out $140 after quad queens twice & a straight flush. That evening, I put $20 in the same bank & got quad 3's on the 2nd hand. I was so tried I could barely see straight, so I took the $100 & ran. What a trip!!

Very nice. We all deserve these kind of trips once in awhile.

Heck no. Haven't been back yet since my 4 deal trip to GVR. I hope to get out there in June or something. Trust me, if I'd hit my royal you would know about it.

First, congrats on the 2 RF's!
Panhandlers aren't a problem at the places here, as the gaming towns are way out in the sticks and they have no easy way to get there. It's a shame that you got weirded out enough to feel the need to move or leave.
Anyone have thoughts on the best way to deal with the pushy ones other than just telling them to buzz off one way or another? Any accepted protocol? Hit the call button on the machine, and wait for someone to come over? Yell for security?

Tamster, Congratulations on a great trip. Many here would love to post such results. Usually best to hit the change button or stop a floor person and bring it to their attention as most casinos don't tolerate such antics with their patrons. One drawback of playing "wee" hours like I do is that there are many folk there who "just don't look right" ie; shouldn't be there, panhandlers included.

Once the guy had left, I did tell the cocktail waitress who said she'd alert security. I had thought about hitting the change/service button before then.I left out early each morning & went downtown by myself, riding the Duece from the Sahara. I'd get there about 8 or 8:30am & it was pretty deserted. Never felt uncomfortable there. I think it was more my imagination than anything else, but you never know.

The areas East and North immediate are real shaky ground. Those are real dark over there. Drive East on St. Louis from the Stratosphere. That'll give you some idea. Not too nice there y'know. Some of them fellers and wimmins too wander in and around the Fremont st. casinos.

Whenever someone gets too up close and personal in a casino, as offering a drink, I use the words "my husband" in a sentence as if he's nearby and meeting me soon. They tend to move on. This works better than anything else I have tried and no one gets hurt. Merely ignoring someone does not always work. So far, I have not had to use a whistle or scream SECURITY, but those are probably effective options. Sometimes I catch the next elevator instead of board with a stranger. In theory, the call button should work, but sometimes it takes a really long time for personnel to show up.
