Won the trip... but came home a loser

Post by nyr2 »

Hi everybody.
We are back from the trip I won on videopoker.com. 5/8 -5/14. Spent 4 nights at
the Signature @MGM and 2 nights at Encore (comped). The trip alone was fantastic. The room at the Signature .  (This residence belongs to the owner of action gaming Ernie Moody the “inventor of multi play video poker” needless to say, it was NICE).  Tower 1 on the 17th floor 1br,2 baths, lv,dr, kitchen and balcony. When I arrived there was a beautiful bouquet of flowers waiting for me on the table. i'm going to basically post the same trip report posted on another site I use.

Gamming: in one word ~sucked

We both played video poker about 85%of the time (DDB only) both hit many 4oaks  but never aces and never a royal and moved around the slots for awhile.  Even tried triple play (ddb) for nickels at encore
of course that’s where I hit my only aces with a kicker. WAH! When we play
multi line VP we tend to play nickels, had we done good on that  I would have switched to quarters. Only the first night were we up around $200. when we finally called it a night at 3am. From then on, it was all down hill.  Most of the slots we played were the multi line. We both love star trek. I liked playing wizard of oz.  We both did good on those games.  We tried ebay for the first time, we both Put in 20 bucks and after about 40 mins. I cashed out $720. and him $200 he was down to 21 cents and was waiting for it to let him cash out (countdown)when I got to spin. He got to cash in on my bonus
round, pretty damn good. That was the best we did the whole time. Played the dean martin slots, he never sang to me as Elvis used too. Hit a few other slots I’ve never played before but sad to say they weren’t kind to me (us). I will say we play normally quarters and occasionally dollars. A lot of the time here this time we played penny and nickel slots, made no difference we lost it just as fast. We like to play at VP bars in the evening. We spent a lot of time at them and each time the results were the same nada! But the drinks were always flowing very freely (except at Wynn resorts $).

Went to a few (5) casinos downtown. Not much, luck there. Went to the Freemont Was hoping for a repeat of my royal from last year, but alas it was not meant to be after about 5 hrs. Downtown. One afternoon we took the shuttle from the fashion show mall to The M resort.  Really nice place, too bad is so far off the strip I would like to spend time there each time we are in Vegas. Though I don’t like having to take shuttles I guess it’s worth the trip. I will not pay the outrageous cab fare to get there (the shuttle was free). Spent most of the time at the MGM casino at night and then the 2 days at Encore we just went between Wynn and Encore.  One night we did see Steve Wynn walking around the casino floor with a female companion.

All in all, I would say the Signature was a beautiful place, but I would rather stay where there is housekeeping on a daily basis.  The Encore rooms are really nice.  Would I stay there again, maybe if it’s comped.
And after this trip I assume it will be. Hopefully we will be back in Oct. for father in laws 75th. Keeping my fingers crossed for that.

So to sum it all up we loved every minute of the trip and yes, we are huge LOSERS! (Ooh. Surprise, surprise) only good things to come in the future. (Ha!) Yet again, we spent $15 a day on Starbucks
(you would think we were home (though that would only cost us $9 a day) ah, to be on vacation. LOOKING FORWARD TO BE BACK IN LV!

Welcome back! Thanks for the most interesting trip report and glad you had a good time! Winning isn't ALWAYS the most important aspect of a casino trip or so I keep telling myself. Heads up for another contest soon.

glad you had a great time!

I have found the video poker selection at the Wynn to suck! Their pay schedules are average and as I said the selection is nothing to write home about.

Very happy to read the report.  Sounded like you had a good time even with losing.  That is the nice thing about Vegas you can enjoy for a time at least even if you are not winning.
