Red Rock Here we come!
Wife and I love playing at Red Rock with its 100% return VP. We just finalized a trip to RR after we received our July offers . One offer for $150/2 nights and the other a $250 Macy's card or $300 slot play/2nights. Just finalized with the host for mid-July. Three nights comped and 300 in play + meals. Plus we will have two extra days (cheaper Southwest flight days) to visit Bryce Canyon area prior to Red Rock. The side trip to BC gives us a new location to visit and makes the trip more like a play-vacation instead of a playcation or gambling trip. LOL
We haven't been since last October and were worried about Station's possible bankruptcy filing but they must be hurting like everyone else. We had been tempted to take up Harrah's charter to Laughlin for 4 nights but Red Rock is so much better. Almost like Christmas in July.
You can tell the economy is really bad with all of the offers.

We were at RR a few months ago...Great place..Still top notch...You'll love Brice Canyon...Drive through Zion on the way...Both are spectacular. Plan ahead as there are not lot of places to stay in the park areas....

kjohn,
Thanks for the response. We are really excited over making both LV and the Bryce Canyon, Zion, Capital Reef NP and several of the state parks as well. I'm not sure whether we are more excited about the LV part or the parks. Last year we spent 4 days at Grand Canyon during the spring. For a flat coastal plains boy from the Gulf Coast of Texas the mountains, valleys, hey even rocks are an incredible sight. Glad we chose the parks first so we could recover at Red Rock around the pool, the buffet, the VP. If I had known retirement was this fun I would have retired in my 30's (if I could have). LOL
Also planning on going by the new "M" and checking it out. Have you been to the new "M"? Green Valley is also close and we have a few comp's there as well so we might stop by as well.

Hey Lucky,
It seems we have the same taste in retirement entertainment. Good
machines, great food, spectacular scenery and a comfy bed...LOL We flew into
Vegas a couple years ago and after a night stay we drove to Zion park where we had a
motel for 5 days. Hiked in Zion and spent a day at Bryce and three days at other
places of interest...Lots of fun...Then back to Vegas for some R and R. We
stayed at GVR on that trip..A nice stop on the way to the National Parks is
the city of Mesquite. We drove around the city and then had lunch at one of the two
casinos...I've actually checked out condos in the town. It really caters to
retirees.....My husband doesn't gamble but stays busy and indulges me. He
likes the free rooms and food I provide. If he only knew what those cost.
As for the "M" I just can't say enough good about the place. I've posted
before on our stay there. You'll love the place. Probably the best buffet
I've ever had. The lines are long so go early.. Machines are great. We have a
wonderful casino host who was formerly at GVR and is now at the "M" so we get VIP
seating....Very nice....and I'm no high roller. I just take him gifts and
schmooz a lot...We're heading back to Vegas on June 21 for 4 nights and will
spend two at RR and two at the "M". I just love them both and have good deals
for both stays...We fly Allegiant from Mo. and the prices are low so I intend on going once a month. At some point we'll drive to San Diego to visit my son and family after a few nights in Vegas....Green Valley has changed a lot in my opinion but still a nice place...
Have a great trip....KJ.

kjohn,
We hear that! We have only been playing hard since 2005 when we began playing VP. 2007 was the first year we got a coin-in/coin-out statement from one of our local casinos along with our win/loss. We almost went into cardiac arrest. You don't realize how much your win/loss represents until you see your c-i/c-o statement. Now that we have a clearer picture we will remind the casino host that our points earned from a stay are from VP. The La. local casinos give us only 1/2 point for VP versus 1 pt for regular slot play. Since we usually team up and play on one card each trip we can double our Average Daily Play. A few hours with 400-500 points represents a huge amount of coin play and better comps. We really encourage everyone in our family to play on one card each trip to boost their level of play. The next trip we use the other person's card.
Our families think it is great that we provide them with rooms and meals when they want to go and that we have contacts. They don't know either how much $ we spend on our "entertainment" and we aren't high rollers. Of course we don't have season tickets to the pro teams like some of them and we live within our means - usually. They are usually agreeable to playing on one of our cards for the trip if we are providing them with comps. In turn we will often play on one of their cards if we are just making a quick trip or the morning after when we don't want to hurt our Average Daily Play.
Have a great Memorial Day and hit a RF.
