If I happen upon a decent jackpot, I'll set aside what I brought up as a bankroll and play some of the remainder. If I lose all the remainder, I still have what I brought up so I break even for the weekend. BTW, playing on their dollar is not good thinking because it's your money now. "I'll just play on their money." No, it's your money you're going to lose

The whole story sounds vaugly familiar... lol.  So if you have a problem if you go once every 2 or 3 weeks what do you have if you go 2/3 times per week
But I feel the same way, I'm not gonna drive for 1.5 hours to play 10 minutes and then drive 1.5 hours back home.  Then again, if I have a room right upstairs I still stay until the wee hours in the morning.

I follow Eds way of thinking. If i  had fun, a comped room, comped food, maybe a "free" gift, and came home with my bankroll intact I call it a win!

Exactly we are just letting them hold on to it until we can win it back.

Nope. It's MY money that I've left there! That Ginny. Sharp player with a quick wit! I think many here will echo your sentiments. They're just holding it til you come back. Sort of a gamblers will call.

Yes sometimes leaving with what you walked in with is a HUGE win..I remember like 2 years ago I went up the casino and only put in $40 and hit for $1200 after like 10 minutes ...I was in a happy mood and figured, "Heck I`m way ahead. Even if I lose $500 back I`m still near $600 up for the day and that`s cool." So I kept playing and long story short, 6 hours later I had lost back the $1200 and went on to lose $1150 more of my money  So there I was disgusted and heart broken, cursing myself and vowing never to return. I was playing 20 credits at a time on the machine that pays like $1200 for a straight flush and it dealt me 5S 6S 8S 9S KD..So I dumped the KD and figured "Yeah right, like I`ll hit this. Piece of teasing crap!"..I pushed the "draw" button and when that 7S popped up..OMG.. The rush was like an electric shock..I went from being $1190 down to $10 up in a second and got out of there as fast as I could go.
As I got in my Jeep and started home I recalled Steve McQueens final line in the movie The Sand Pebbles, "What the Hell happened?!"

I know many people recommend establishing a "win" amount to stop at or to reach and then reset. I need to work on establishing a "win" spot and sticking with it like I stick with my "loss" spot.

But for us even with a meal, a room, the pool, and other possible attractions it is hard for us to not "just a few more hands".   Especially after a two hour drive. "Besides we're on a roll and that has often led to some more great hits since we're hot" and some "lousy losses - since we're hot."   We tell ourselves - hey if we go home even we won! Right? Besides look at all the comp points we earned. LOL

Larry, establishing win or loss limits is beneficial to all. Bottom line is though, as long as you enjoyed yourself even if you lost your a$$ in the casino.
