Michigan VP?

Post by FloridaPhil »

My wife and I are taking a road trip this October.  We're going to Upper Michigan and looping back through St Louis on our way back to Florida. We plan to stop in Windsor Canada for a few days then drive up upper Michigan.  Any decent VP in Michigan, Ilinois or Missouri?  Any places to avoid?  Thanks!

Native American casinos abound in Northern Michigan. Soaring Eagle at Mt Pleasant, Turtle Creek at Acme near beautiful Traverse City on Grand Traverse Bay and Little River three miles North of Manistee are three large and beautiful casinos you will probably enjoy.  Perhaps the Chamber of Commerce still has a complimentary short trolley ride tour at Manistee, near Lake Michigan. Newish Turtle Creek gets away from the typical rustic effect and perhaps retro for lack of better word. There's a 50s snack bar. Further north, Petoskey has newish AGAWA and I hope to get there soon. We enjoy making a loop to them a few times a year. They are fun and I have yet to set records at any of them. There's others and also a bunch in the UP (Upper Peninsula).Caesar's Windsor is spacious, beautiful and recently expanded. Through the tunnel under the Detroit River will get you near quaint, picturesque GREEKTOWN casino and direction signs are posted. Since I walked out $1200 ahead in three hours on my lucky machine and no W2G today, it's my favorite until I win somewhere else.MGM is amazing and located on Third near the LODGE (10) and FISHER freeways. It's a few miles from Greektown. About a mile away from MGM, on GRAND RIVER and W of the Lodge is expanded Motor City Casino.Check these out on the internet for more ideas, maps and directions.Beema, MFP and redleg, care to add insight on your favorite Michigan casinos.Report back to us after your trip and have fun! LUCK!

FOUR WINDS is a huge, newish, beautiful Native American casino located near New Buffalo and Lake Michigan in the SW corner of Michigan. Tedlark can tell you more about that place.

We sort of divide our time between MGM and GREEKTOWN, with a trip once a month to Windsor (keep the points active).  MGM is more roomy with more VP than Greektown.  Like you Marie - my fav is the one I win at!!

Phil if you are driving from Michigan to St. Louis then you would appreciate Four Winds in New Buffalo, MI as it is on the route to St. Louis. New Buffalo is at exit #1 right inside Michigan near the Indiana border. Besides casinos in Minnesota I can't remember seeing a bigger casino than Four Winds. The video poker there is a bit lacking as they specialize in lower limit slots, they advertise having around 4,000 machines total. They pay 40 - 1 on straight flushes if Three Card Poker is your game, they have the electronic version of roulette along with the electronic version of texas Hold'em if you are a poker player. Throw in about 12 blackjack tables, about 4 craps tables, a couple other specialty card game tables and it makes for a nice stop. The restaurants are very good and parking is ample. If you get a chance to reserve a room, do it as they are top shelf too. As like most, cell phones don't work in there so make plans to meet up with your traveling companion as a predetermined time because if you walk around looking for each other you may be in for a good workout.  Oh and wear comfortable shoes. Good luck to you if you stop there, Ted.

You really need to checkout Greektown casino.  I usually find it pretty lucky and you can't beat the location.  It's in the heart of restaurants, clubs, and the best bakery in Detroit.  Have a wonderful time and let us know if you enjoyed yourself.

It all comes down to personal choice MGM would be my 1st choice...love PICK-EM...I don't really care for either GT or MotorCity..I guess it comes down to comps, luck & comfort....After our latest trip to Vegas I feel very loyal to MGM-MIRAGE properties...
