DETROIT ANNUAL WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE
The dream cruise officially begins tomorrow but has been in full swing all week. The cruise covers thirteen miles between Ferndale and Pontiac, MICHIGAN, (Metro Detroit area) with four lanes in each direction. The two outside lanes are supposed to be for the classic and antique cars however they are constantly intermingling with newer cars. We just returned from bumper to bumper, mostly stop traffic in perfect 82 degree weather. ANY car, style, color and year you have ever seen was well-represented! Car buffs from all over the world attend! Brits being interviewed on TV claimed they attend every year and see cars they would never see in England. This fifteenth year celebrates the 100th anniversary of the first mile of cement road. I believe the FORD Model T was there. The official dream cruise radio station, 104.3 FM was playing the top 104 cruise songs. # 1 "Born to be Wild". Wherever MikeA is, he might be happy to know that EAGLES "Life in the Fast Lane" was # 11.The first sponsor dropped out due to the economy. MOTOR CITY CASINO stepped up to the plate to assume sponsorship. That would be the Ilich family that also owns the TIGERS and RED WINGS. Intense exhaust fumes and souped up mufflers lend appropriate atmosphere. PEOPLE, tents and lawn chairs lined the street. At intervals a horn will sound and others follow the lead. A few cars pulled off with problems and hoods up. It's gratifying to see so many people happy to be there!

marie, you are relentless. marie in my day it was Monroe to Flat Rock, using Telegraph Road. She is right though. Folks that like CARS ( not loud muffler import 4 bangers) should really attend one of these. Fellow that used to work for me left Woodward, went downtown Det. and lit up his 396 Chev on Jefferson, stopped by , if you can believe it , the Chief of Police. He thought, " I'm going straight to jail" . Chief quietly said, " these people want me to do something, can I drive it?" He did and hard.
No ticket. Det. is really a CAR town.

Good story, faygo! Fantastic paint jobs were visible including full length dragon. One car was draped in black with MIA and POW to make everyone think about others. At least one ISETTA was in the parade.I wanted to blast the radio but husband nixed that. "Not with this car, that would have been fine with the '68 Mustang convertible". That car met an untimely death. Our son, then a Sr in high school, washed the Mustang that day and wrapped it around a tree that night. No ticket was issued. The police probably thought he would be in enough trouble when he figured out how to get home. We were all so lucky that he only had a couple stitches in his forehead!

How did "Black Dog" rank in the finals? Tend to see a few of them on the side of the road (gruesome!)
