Quit the Casinos after 9yrs Self Excluded
Well I thought about not sharing this info but I changed my mind in case there is anyone considering this for themselves. I have been playing VP for many years and absolutely love it. I found myself spending too much time at the casino and when I was not there I was always thinking about going. I have told myself for years that I would and could just stop going. I would quit for a month or two but someone would always invite me to go and I wound up going and getting "hooked" again. I did always have set "spending" limits. Although at times I did exceed those limits, I actually had reduced my spending in the last couple of years. (it was still alot of losses and never a win at years end!) The thing I could not reduce is just all the "thinking and planning" of going. I decided that it was not healthy and that I would force myself to quit by going to the state police/gaming authority and place myself on the self exclusion list. For those of you who do not know what this is.... If you place yourself on this list you will be arrested and jailed if caught in the casino. Any money that you win will be taken and given to state. Anyway, I know some of you will say "congrats" and some of you will just laugh but for me it was the best thing to do. I love VP but my time and money is better spent out of the casino. P.S. This is not intended to tell all of you VP casino players that your "wrong" for playing.... Just always check yourself and if you have ever thought "I need to quit" this is a simple and effective way to do so.God BlessBill

Bill, Thanks for sharing an interesting concept and perhaps there are others reading who will seriously consider taking the same severe measures as you felt necessary. Yet others may be moved to actually follow in your footsteps.I have been a small time, occasional gambler for many more years than you and have cut way back on casino visits this year. Last year was a bumper year, winning wise, for me. There was no concentrated master plan for cutting back this year, it just evolved with priorities. I mentioned recently on chat that I am getting my gambling fix a lot more on this site than casinos lately and someone agreed they felt the same way. This aspect coincided with my gold membership. Those fun, leader board, self imposed challenges certainly contributed. It was unusual that I ended up in casinos several times this week and happily, wins more than covered losses. I still enjoy that live casino experience including the drive and anticipation. I find it therapeutic and a temporary escape from reality, akin to reading a book, attending a sports function or other live performance. It's entertainment. It simply adds another dimension and makes life more interesting/exciting, IMHO.Somewhere it was written that one visits Vegas for 15 years on average before they stop going, for whatever reasons. You have introduced a topic of controversy and I imagine others will soon contribute their impressions.
