Nickels Keep Rolling
Last week we made a quick return pilgrimage to the local casino (feeling lucky from the week before) and made a huge sacrifice back to the casino god-everything we won the week before. We didn't play smart and not the 99% 5¢ multi-hand machines.
So feeling sorry for ourselves we went back to seek revenge. Playing multi-hand nickels we broke even on Saturday night. Sunday we couldn't get a machine so we put $40 in a Spin Poker and were dealt the 5 Aces on Bonus DW 5¢ spin poker. Great hit!
Moved to the MH 5¢ when two fifty play opened up. Five hours later we left up 600%. We both hit runs of Aces on Super Aces, then both of us were dealt quads - me on SDB/ Ms. Lucky on TDB within a few minutes of each other. Then she went on a string of hits: AWAK and 2-4's with Kicker on TDB. Additionally we each hit two RF during our runs. We ended the evening with a drive home knowing we had beaten the gods at their own game.

The name is fitting for the both of you. Congratulations. It's nice to extract revenge and not hand it to some "betting system" or something of that ilk.

Congrats Larry, those nickels add up nicely too. I once sat down at a nickel multi strike game and within 5 minutes I hit it for 40,000 nickels. Boy were the two women playing on each side of me mad. The 10 minutes it took to pay me were pretty uncomfortable while I was sitting between those two battleaxes.

Nickels Update:
Being on a roll from the weekend we have made two more trips this week to our casino haunt. Drove over and back on Tuesday night. Ms. Lucky's streak is still going. She played nickels without any big hits and moved to 50¢ VP on a machine that frequently plays well. Hits quad 3's twice within ten minutes on TDB and ends the night up another $1600.
So being "wild and crazy" We decide to try it again but spend the night Wednesday and come back early today.
The nickels are hot. I triple my money within an hour. Meanwhile Ms. L decides to try Royal Aces. Accidentally hits 75 hand play and is dealt a straight with 4 to a Straight Flush holds SF and hits big. Then is dealt quads on Royal Aces a few hands later. Cashes out a nice ticket. Moves to the single hand 25¢ VP which she prefers over nickels and plays for over an hour trying to get a hit. Finally, she goes back to the 50¢ machine from the previous night. Within 30 minutes she calls to me with a big smile on her face! She has hit a RF on BDW for $2K. Unfortunately she was only playing 5 coin instead of her normal 10 coin when she is on a streak. She is excited not only because she hit a RF (9th this year) and had several great pay outs but she has overcome her recent cold streak.
We decided not to make it a "hat trick" - need to get the house ready for Christmas. But the weekend is coming up!

johnnylong,
Welcome to the forum.
VP is based on skill and luck! We are just in a good streak. There are also runs of bad luck. Most of us just cry to ourselves during the bad times unless we need community support. Also remember that VP usually pays a higher return than regular slots.
In My Humble Opinion - Keys to Success:
Practice, practice, practice. Know the correct play for each hand you are dealt on the games you play. Practice with a good software package or online to get the highest efficiency you can.Play at a denomination that allows you to play the game for a reasonable time and play only the machines with the highest return when you can.Set a win and loss limit. This can really be hard to keep when the play is good or you are down and want to recover your losses.Learn as much as you can about VP. Read this forum and other sites that teach and talk about strategies.Be lucky!
I was lucky! I hit my first Royal Flush on my second time to play Video Poker on Jacks or Better and have been hooked since.
Best wishes.

Larry, it took me 3 years to hit my 1st royal flush but I was hooked long before that. I always wonder if it is a good idea to be hooked on this game.
I don't have much time to practice because I eat hearty, drink hearty, gamble hearty, and work a good deal. I do read what people from the entire spectrum of video poker teachings have to say and it has helped me in many ways. Most of my streaks tend to be on the miserable side though, mostly due to crummy disipline.
