We have stayed at the Aquarius and had a nice time. My parents enjoy the Golden Nugget (smaller casino area but nice hotel and rooms). We had good luck with video poker at the Colorado Belle. Many casinos are walking distance along the river board walk. Vegas could be a day trip, it's about an hour and a half ride to the Boulder Strip area of Vegas (Samstown, Eastside Cannery, Boulder Station). Have fun and Great luck!

We had no complaints about staying at Aquarius, Colorado Belle and Harrah's and like to visit Laughlin. These are older and you cannot compare them to Venetian, Bellagio or Mirage for example. We so enjoyed that river walk. There are river taxis, especially useful to get to Harrahs which is not convenient to walk from the other casinos. It's somewhat isolated up on the far hill. There is a lovely guided boat tour on the Colorado along the casinos that we enjoyed. Laughlin is 100 miles from Vegas. Hoover Dam is interesting - check it out on the net re tours.

Stay at the Edgewater and play the slot machines just inside of the main entrance and...oh wait, those machines aren't there anymore. Come to think of it, the entrance isn't there anymore either.

Good one Mule, YOU are right on top of today's news! 70 year old crashed into that entrance with his car and unfortunately two died. OMG talk about being at the wrong place at the wrong time!

Just read that article in the LA Times. Talk about being at the wrong slot machine at the wrong time.
The paper used the term "medical episode" to describe what may have been the cause. I would say the gas pedal/accelator might have been the cause but I don't believe the driver was in a Toyota!!

IIRC, I believe that the Pontiac he was driving was a "joint-venture" between Pontiac and Toyota.CKUpdate: Quote from LVRJ"The Vibe is a joint venture between
Toyota and General Motors Co. Last month, 2009 and 2010 Vibe models
were recalled because of a risk of a floor mat trapping the gas pedal,
causing unintended acceleration."

Las Vegas is 90 minutes away. I've stayed at Harrahs. I use to stay Flamingo Hilton but it's Aqurius now. Golden Nugget is nice haven't stayed there, also the River Palms is nice. Edgewater and Colorado Bell. Lots of good places in Laughlin.

If you have a car, go to the grocery store across the river in Bullhead City, buy a 5lb bag of carrots, and drive down to Oatman where there are wild mules roaming around. You can hand feed them the carrots.

Agreed, Marksman, that is one fun place to visit! Those burros are descendants of the early miner's burros! WATCH OUT, they bite and carry GERMS and probably ticks. You can try to ignore them but you best keep your eye out for where they are in proximity to yourself and body parts! Look up Oatman, AZ on the net. In 1915, two miners struck $10M gold find and that town expanded to 3500. Eventually, it became a ghost town and now is definitely a tourist trap. Some of the fake tarps and weathered store fronts are designed to look 'old'. They look like a gentle wind would cause their collapse! Visit the hotel where Clark Gable and Carol Lombard stayed. Name it and vendors sell it, like Western stuff, jewelry, leather, rocks, scarves. Perhaps there is a gold mine tour.IF you are under ten years of age, you might be charmed by a gun fight by two bank robbers in the middle of the street. It's for Shriner's charity causes and therefore, the public is forgiving and giving.
