okay, deuces is my game so i think I got this one.
You hold all 5 cards for the royal for sure. Even on a pay table where the royal only pays out 100 instead of 125.
For the 5 of a kind, you're only going to keep all 5 cards when it pays more than 70. Which is does for full pay. But it's very very close. This is one case where I might go for the 2's instead. The difference in return is very small.

That's right as far as it goes, Eduardo. For FPDW the values are so close that it gets down to which cards form the 5oak. If they are 10 or above you hold the 5oak and if it is a 3-9 the best play is to hold the 3 deuces.
The reason is because you have fewer chances to draw to a wild RF when you discard the 10-A. However, the values are extremely close and holding just the 3 deuces is much higher variance. As a result there are some who would claim you should always hold the 5oak.

Eduardo, I thought you had this one?!?!?
You're right on with the wild RF.
But on FPDW (and I believe most DW pay tables) when dealt 5 of a kind with 3 deuces, you only hold 5-10's or higher. You hold just the 3 deuces if it's 5-9's or lower. The reason for this is if you were to hold only the 3 deuces, you still have a full compliment of possible wild RF when dumping 5-9's or lower.

I think his strategy does indeed suggest that you hold dealt wild royal's with 3 deuces...just as Eduardo said!

thanks everyone. appreciate the input. redid the hand analyzer on genius and it is holding 10's or higher and discarding 9 and lower on the 5oak. i was reading paymers strategy and he does have a paragraph stating that he would get chastised for holdin ANY 5oak. but he tends to hold to that strategy which was confusing me. have another thread where paymer and genius disagree.

I made a decision long ago to stick with one Guru . I chose Bob Dancer. I have enough confusion in life to try and figure out the minute differences between them.

In all these cases we are dealing with penalty cards. That is, cards that you throw away that are not available to be drawn which may impact the value of the held cards. There are straight penalties, flush penalties as well as many others. However, these two are the ones that come into play most often.
If a player always wants to make the absolute highest mathematically based hold, then they must learn lots of penalty situations. However, penalty situations never come into play when there's a big difference between the possible holds. As such, they rarely will have a noticeable impact on the overall return of the game. For most games ignoring penalty situations will cost .05% or less, usually less.
In addition, it takes time to assess every hand carefully. This will slow down your play. This can have two side-effects. The first is you will make fewer mistakes thus increasing your return. The other is you will earn fewer points which reduces slot club benefits like cashback.
The key is to understand these factors and make whatever decision is most comfortable for oneself.

Since no one else has taken issue with this comment (where it refers to"most DW pay tables"), I will.
In DW games paying only 4 for a four of a kind (there are lots of them), when dealt 5 of a kind with 3 deuces, the "correct" play is to keep any five of a kind.
