cd, might need to be bigger then $10k. Hilton didn't check her $12,500 hit. Shoot for the moon . Break out the tinfoil.

Gotta walk before you can run, my friend.  I'll work myself up to it with "just" a $10K winner or two first.  People like you, Boops, and rascal might be able to handle those big winners but I think my ticker might give out unless I get some training in.

Checking the machine with a big hit may be procedure in La. I have seen them check the machine on a progressive RF $15K hit at the Isle and watched them spend 45 minutes with 6-8 supervisors/techs and a slot's director checking a spin poker machine that hit for $72K at L'Auberge du Lac in Lake Charles last spring. They basically took down the SP machine.

Of course they didn't check it while the guy played and lost about $15K ($90/hand) before the hit.

The next day I watched him play through about $11K before two RF on two separate machines for $8k each. Talk about fun watching someone with that much money... and sickening.    Yes, we were jealous!!!!

I'd be greener than green with envy.    Thanks to all who've posted on machine checks made for BIG winners.  Now I'll be mentally prepared when I hit one.

I kind of caused billyjoe's victory thread to digress () and I think now we need to get back to having more "Congrats!" tossed his way.

CD, I don't think it is a reg thing...I think different casinos have different policies. I have had several $5 Royals in Louisiana (although never at the snarky New Orleans Harrahs) and none of these were checked at the actual machine....although of course you know that during the payment delay process security is reviewing ye olde tape with eagle eyes. But I have also had larger wins in Nevada, California and Mississippi where the actual machines were not checked. The only machine check I ever had for a win was at a the old Treasure Bay in Biloxi, pre-hurricane, when I hit back to back $1 Royals. They paid the first promptly, but the second win caused all of the red flags to go up, and the tape and the machine were checked, re-checked, and then checked again. (I was fully expecting them to x-ray my body before they finally gave me the 2nd payment.) The paying attendent and supervisor were still standing there from the first Royal when I hit the second, so how exactly was I supposed to be cheating? So, again, I could be totally wrong but I think it is a casino-by-casino policy. I saw a really big VP win at GVR in LV not too long ago, and there was absolutely no machine check.

Like said earlier.................Its funny when I can fire 2 G's into the mach over 2 days and they dont check squat, Then you get a hit (fraction of actual $ wagered). And oh heck, mach must be broke. Things that make you go hMm

They're certainly not in a rush to check out that RNG when bills are going into the machine and not coming out, are they?

Well, the concensus seems to be that it's individual casino policy as to whether checks are done on big winners, and how big the winners need to be before any checks are made.  But that doesn't preclude the possibility that in some areas it's actually required legally - thanks!

rascal,
We have never had a check on $5 RF in La. either. And, we have seen up to $10K without a check. It may be the amount or the circumstances.

Ms.LL hit a $10/hand RF for $8K one night by accidently hitting max play on several hands and hit the RF. That night she did have the machine checked. The funny thing was no one came to pay her. She kept waiting finally after about 15 minutes she sent someone playing by her to find me and asked a housekeeping person to get security.

Security came, after a radio call then a tech came, another call then a supervisor came... the machine was registering only a $800.00 RF instead of $8K. Needless to say we were both anxious for a few minutes but we weren't leaving until we got the $8K which they paid without hesitation.

They apologized that she had to wait so long and then checked the machine to see why it wasn't communicating correctly. It was only showing an $800 win on their monitoring screens as well.
