Just back from a two-day get-a-way to L’Auberge du Lac in Lake Charles. The first night was a disaster. Mrs. L got sick so she went to the room early. I couldn’t hit a thing on $ or multi-hand 25¢ and I figured it would be an early night for me as well. On my very last 50¢ playing 10¢ single hand Joker I hit only my second ever 5/Kind. Three straight flushes, around a dozen quads, and two hours later I cashed out a $100 and headed to bed.

Thursday evening was an “evening in heaven”. Couldn’t hit on $ or multi-hand 25¢ and moved to 5¢ Spin Poker to conserve my money. Third hand of DW was dealt 4 deuces. This seed money put me back at the $ on a machine we were told had paid 4 RF over the weekend. I had played it earlier and went straight down. A hunch (which I always listen to) told me to play it again. Put in $100 and this time the machine and I became “soul mates”.   

Played JOB and held my own. I took a break and the machine defaulted without me realizing to DB until I hit a quad a few hands into it. Another quad later and I really up on a roll. I constantly changed my pacing and play between the buttons to keep my timing. Lost my timing on DB and moved to SDDB. Hold a pair of 3’s and hit 3’s WAK. Cash out and start over. Moved between JOB, Bonus, DB, DW, SDDB and Joker constantly hitting and moving when I lose my timing.   During one streak of over 20 hands on SDDB my amount never varied over $10. Ms. L comes by for more $ and we share neither of us has hit a Deuce RF. So the machine deals me a D/RF.   On one DW streak I had over a dozen hits in a row. Hold nothing and I get a hit! I leave for another break and tell Ms. L she can play to keep it going. (She hasn’t hit anything in four trips including Vegas). I come back and she is smiling from her 4 Deuces on “my machine”.     She cashes out.   I lose the rhythm so we decide to move.

She suggests we take our ticket of $95 and play the $5 machines. I think she means the $5 slots instead of VP. So we try the slots. Down to 11 credits I hit a multiplier for 90 credits. So off we go back to $VP. We take turns playing on the new $100 stake when she holds two Aces on SDDB and hits 4 Aces. Cash out and we stake each other to another $100 each. The “kitty is getting bigger” and we keep sacking it away. She stays on her machine and I go back to my soul mate. Once again our relationship is strong. Changing pace and games I decide to try Aces Bonus. Haven’t played it all night. Hold 4 and hit a straight flush and then a quad. Another quad on Bonus and I cash out and start over again. Moving to DB and Bonus I hit 4 more quads including two dealt to me. Ms. L is now watching and it is 3:00 a.m. I switch back to SDDB and I state to the machine “be nice to me”. Ms. L and the pay attendant talking to us both laugh and then howl as I’m dealt quad 4’s that very hand. Cash out $1,700 off the $100 seed. We share the machine and play steady and even until 4:00 and call it quits.

Friday my soul mate and I can’t hit so I move to 25¢ STP without the multiplier and hit quad Aces on DDB twice. Move to $JOB and play for three more hours cashing out each time +10X the seed money. Exhausted, sore backs, hungry, and delirious from the lack of sleep we finally decide to head home. The kitty is filled enough to provide cash for our upcoming trip to Alaska and a good pot for our next two trips. I’ll certainly check my soul-mate machine on our next trip as well. My only disappointment! Twice had 4RF on $ multi-hand and never hit. Sure would have been a nice “capper”.

I have tracked "G statement hits" and RF's on the computer since we began VP in 2005. So I know Ms. L kicks my butt when it comes to the # of RF hit with a 38-18 count -including a 10-0 skunking in 2007. Most of the time we sneak a picture on our cell phones and then email it to our computer and to our daughters who also play. They also send their hits so we all can share in the photo delights of our "grand-hits". After pictures of the Joker 5 Kings/ 3 Straight Flushes (SFl), and a day of texting my phone was dead Wednesday night.

Thursday nights as I was carefully taking a picture of the Aces Bonus (SFl), a security guard came up from behind me and for the first time in a long time and told me I couldn't take a picture in the casino. She watched while I cancelled the picture. She did say if I hit a "BIG" jackpot the casino would take one for me.!    Good thing she didn't want to check the rest of the night's pictures.

The next day playing next to the casino host stand they said nothing as we took a picture of a nice dealt 10 hand full house on $'s proving to the kids we were "crazily playing $50/hand with their inheritance"
