Change Stragety with Progressive?
I play 10/7 DB 99% of the time...@ Sam's Town/Palace Station to name just two. I have been playing 10/7 DB for 10+ years but I don't know when and or how much to change stragety to maintain perfect play when playing a progessive machine. It's not very often I have progressive 10/7 DB (as the Palms has) but when I do I don't know when and how much to change stragety to take advantage of the progessive (i.e. RF). I do occasionally play 9/6 DB progressive. I have Dancer's WinPoker and I am able to change pay table (i.e. from 10/7 to 9/6) but if the game allows a change to compensate for progressive I can't find it. Sooooooooooo....that's my question to you guys. I will be surprised if there is a pat answer to the question, but it there some guess-to-mate guidle lines that you guys use to allow/compensate for a progressive machine? Thanks for any info/imput!

Depends on what type of progressive it is. If it is a 2/3 machine then I change my stradegy around $5,300.

I'm surprised that since , obviously, you know how to adjust the pay table, you aren't able to find a way to compensate for a progressive.
Simply adjust the royal payout to whatever progressive value you want.

If you know how to play computer perfect strategy for a royal flush payoff of 4000, and you play exactly the same strategy when the progressive is at 4500, you are giving up only an expectation of only about 0.59 coins per hour (if you play 800 hands per hour). That's really not very much; anyone who doesn't use penalty cards in their strategy is already giving up about 0.21 coins per hour at the same rate, again not a big deal for most.If this is too much of a loss for you, simply work out the strategy for a royal of 4500 by using TomSki's VP Strategy Master, Frugal VP, Wolf VP, vpgenius.com, VPforWinners offered here, or by trial and error with WinPoker (you can increase the number of strategy errors that you can find by clicking on training mode, selecting Advanced, and pressing the "Hard Hands" button).Even at a progressive payoff of 5000, using the same strategy as a royal at 4000 loses you an expectation of about 2.2 coins per hour. Just decide how much you are willing to give up from perfection and how many strategies that you want to create and keep with you to use. Then you can figure what ranges of royal payoffs are best for each of the strategies that you create.I understand the work in strategy creation may not be worth the time for some, but it sounds like you really like to play this game, and creating strategies is also fun for some to do (though I realize that sounds totally sick to others).Best of luck.

Yes! I do count penality cards. Unintentionally, I did not mention that even though I attempt to play perfect stragety, at times I pause when dealt certain hands (i.e. AA-QQx or 4 to flush with 3 high cards. 99% of the time I attempt to play correct stragety. However, I am thinking with a progressive that these close call plays may be tipped in favor of 3 to royal vs. 4 to flush with 3 high cards. Since I am looking for a excuse to go with 3 to royal, just maybe, just maybe the progressive will allow me to go for royal and still play correct stragety. In any case, I see and understand everything everyone is saying and I appreciate your comments. I will go to WinnPoker and adjust paytable for Royal and see what happens and what changes I can make and still play perfect stragety. Thanks again for your help/info.

Mr Double B, Here is a table that you might find helpful.Value of progressive royal necessary for it to be correct to play 3 Royal when playing 10/7 Double Bonus:4 Flush Cards Offsuit Royal Value KQJ2-8 2-8 4080* or higher KQJ2-8 9 4180* or higher KQJ2-8 T 4280* or higher
KQJ2-8 J-K 4175* or higher KQJ2-8 A 4195* or higher AQJ2-9 2-9 4670* or higher
AQJ2-9 T 4770* or higher
AQJ2-9 J-Q 4765* or higher
AQJ2-9 K 4613 or higher
AQJ2-9 A 6121**or higher*At this amount, the EVs of a 4 Flush and 3 Royal are equal.**At this amount, the EVs of a 3 Royal and a Pair of Aces are equal.Of course, there are parallel plays to what is indicated for AQJ2 above for both AKJ2 and AKQ2.

New2vp...thanks for the info/chart you posted. To me DB is a challenge to play especially if you play (attempt to play) perfect stragety. I certainly don't intend to put down other VP games, but some of the VP games to me are just about the same as playing slots....it's more of a deal-deal-deal-that never stops. DB keeps me thinking....even if some people say at a very low level--(lol). I must confess that I probably don't play DB as fast as I could or as fast as some folks. Speaking of other folks, I never see anyone else playing DB. Obviously they are other who play it I just never see them. I find that attempting to play perfect stragety requires me to concentrate on what's going on (cards being dealt) and that's not a small part of why I play DB. I do play to win, but I also want to feel as if my knowledge of the game (DB) had somethintg to do with me winning (errr-make that not losing). Anyway, I'm all off track here and thanks again for info.
