My first Royal I really can't remember, it was so long ago.
But the most memorable was when I was playing at the Tropicana in Vegas back in the 1990's when they had a bank of progressive .25 machines near the front entrance/bar. Well I hit the royal on the Progressive & while I was happy, I swear that the lady playing right next to me got way more excited than I did. She almost squeezed my arm off! She was so happy for me. I've been dealt a Royal only once - in S. Tahoe at Bill's casino - now that was fun!.

Hi all,I have a cool story to tell. I have just started to get into VP for real. I used to play, but didn't really pay much attention to it. Now I've learned the strategy for 2 games(DDB and NSUDW). I usually play in Tunica, but didn't want to drive quite as far plus we weren't going to spend the night. We drove to Southland Greyhound Park in West Memphis, Arkansas. It just so happened that the Gaming Director was in house helping set up some new slots. I talked to him about the VP machines in Arkansas and he said that they are true RNG and not like a normal slot machine. He said he programmed them. I bought his story and decided to play. The paytables were very lame but I found a good progressive DDB with separate pays for the different suits of royals. I played for about 2-3 hours, hitting 4 A's and a couple other 4 of a kinds while my girlfriend played her usual penny slots. I was up about $100 and took a break. I came back to the same machine and it was very cold, but I stuck with it. I knew I had to leave in about an hour when the I hit the progressive clubs royal. I basically was in a little shock but hollered "lightly" for my girlfriend around the corner. It was my 2nd royal as I had hit my first about 3 weeks earlier in Tunica. We were both excited and after they paid me and some lookers congratulated me, I went back to playing "just in case" I could hit another before we had to go. Well, what do you know. I hit the spades progressive about 20 minutes later. Now I was in total shock. The one lady next that had been switching machines all day was excited, but the dude nearby seemed irritated...lol. I was over the top. I know it will probably never happen again, but you never know. I know I will try and I will play at Southland if the progressive royal payouts are worth it.Just wanted to share that story and hopefully my pictures will load.good luck everyone!!

I wondered how long it would be before someone brought this place up. I know the machines you were playing they set in the southwest corner. I'm not a big fan of Southland, I play $2 and $5 denomination DDB and the paytables were the same as where I play at Tunica but overall I took a beating there. I had some nice hits there but couldn't find them often enough. Congrats on a great night. Sounds like if I go back there maybe I should just play .25 denomination.

I moved to Vegas for work in 1996 and lived by the Gold Coast. A buddy and I went to gamble (i did not gamble before then at casinos) one day and i was playing 50 cent VP and only playing 1 coin and hit a royal in hearts. I learned a valuable lesson that day, to play max coins at all times! Since then I have hit over 40 RF's in 1$ denoms and lower. Looking for a 2$ or 5$ soon. Great stories on here congratulations to all.
